I think the first step is cleaning the ****ing thing, the spikes on top haven't been washed for years.

Looks Good In my opinion, but I would wait a year or two first before building, when hopefully we will be an established premier league side.

Yawn. Again, why does "a year or two" make you established? Look at Wolves, look at Bolton, they were 'established' by your measure, now they're in the championship.

We have the means and the ambition to do better. It's unlikely this work will start during the season now, but next summer seems very likely, and as has already been discussed at length on other threads, the demand is there now so why wait?

How some of you can't see St Marys behind this is beyond me, a crude bit of photoshop shows how:

The main expense is the stand and the new building/facilities, I would have thought the rest is simply re-cladding.

Lots of land to buy though, wouldn't have thought that was cheap

But we will need a bigger magastore when the world has witnessed the 2nd coming (well 3rd actually) and all the disillusioned Man U fans start buying Saints shirts.

Ok, the stadium itself I can see, but the Kingsland expansion is built on a road, leaving very little space (if any) for people to walk around (and no road!) and the other stands/megastore building eat into the car parks, which realistically would also need to be expanded. Not to mention the riverside development...

I don't see the point in waiting if we have plans in place. Worst case scenario - we have a redeveloped stadium in the Championship. That wouldn't be a disaster.

The only way it would be a disaster is if relegation made Cortese and the Liebherr family reconsider their investment, in which case they'd certainly not go ahead with such a large project anyway.

Unlike Pompey, the Liebherr's have money and have already shown they follow through plans - the £15 million development of Staplewood training ground and academy is already underway. So not just empty promises like at Pompey.

You say lots of land to buy though, but I have heard that Saints already own the industrial area behind the Chapel stand, and that would make for a much easier redevelopment in terms of cost and convenience, if we were to redevelop that is. Whether this is the case I can't be sure.

Think this has already been spoken about for a few years, potential capacity is either 45k or 52k, I forget which.

I drive past St Marys everyday on way to and from work and lately there is a lot going on , lots of glass being re-fitted etc but still no premiership flag flying as yet which im a bit disappointed about. I must say the proposed plans look very impressive and i do not doubt for one moment that Don Cortese hasn't started the ball rolling. I did hear a rumour that they would like the stadium extended in readiness for some rugby tournament around 2013 ? ( not sure if thats the right year ) as St Marys would be hosting one of the matches ?.

Maybe I should have explained myself a bit better, by waiting a year or two to become established I didnt mean flirting with relegation like wolves and bolton I meant that we will be a mid table team such as stoke, sunderland and fulham. I agree we have the means and ambititon to do better than the clubs mentioned and I fully expect us to do better than these teams, but once we are established in the premier league. The reason I think we should wait is because should we be relegated we aren't going to need the extra expense of paying for a stadium when in the championship income is significantly lower for clubs.

Indeed, but it's pretty unlikely the IRB would require the stadium to be expanded. St Mary's would have been chosen based on how it was when the bid was made, and 32,000 seats is plenty for minor world cup group games.

One question, we I get one of these when I go down to St Mary's tomorrow and renew? Looks very good. How far have we come since July 2009! Premier League and development plans for St Mary's! Wow.
