I quite like the bias of commentators when it comes to internationals, I don't know why exactly. Oh, and I don't understand why everyone hates McCarthy. I remember similar comments being made about him over World Cup 2010.
McCarthy isn't a fake Irishman at all his father is from Waterford, and his ties with the Irish part of his family have remained strong. If you were born in Germany of a English father in the forces you wouldn't see yourself as a fake Englishman. Lawrenson's credentials are a little less convincing. He made it into the Irish squad via his grandfather being born in the republic.
Loved hearing Roy Keane the other night after Spain beat Ireland and everyone was saying that the Irish supporters are the best in the world. He basically said that the Irish team needed to give their supporters something decent to shout about. In other words he would rather have the best team in the world rather than the best supporters.
100 percent agree said the exact same thing myself yesterday, soooo glad he aint our manager, could send a glass eye to sleep
funny last night when Mick referred to Keith Andrews as Ian Andrews....despite there not being a player in the Irish squad called Ian, and no famous person in the last 40 years called Ian Andrews.....good work Mick you buffoon
It was 'despicable' when SSN reported the match-fixing in Italy recently. However when the BBC said Italy were a better side than most gave them credit for going into the Euros, it meant they 'knew their stuff'. Now McCarthy is a **** because he pointed out some Italian cheating. Am I the only one who sees the theme here? I like BCC but just because he used to go to some Inter matches, he's obsessed with Italian football and won't have a bad word said about it.
