The Premier League have sold the new TV rights to Sky and Bt for an increased fee of over £1.2b. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2158825/Premier-League-sell-TV-rights-3-billion-BT-Sky.html
Cant imagine it's possible.. but would be great if they could measure how much of an increase Aguero's last minute goal contributed. A 1.254billion rise is essentially double.
Here's a good article from the Guardian on the subject : http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/blog/2012/jun/13/premier-league-strikes-gold-bt?CMP=twt_gu It appears that we could get almost £2m more per televised game. What an incentive to get off to a flying start and for the PR lot to do more to raise our profile. Or for MAF to lash out on some big names.
Next season the team that finishes 18th will get more prise money than Man City got last season for winning it. I also read that that are planning Saturday night games live which personally I’m not too happy about. As a season ticket holder I much prefer 3pm KOs at weekends as it gives you the opportunity to have a few beers after the match. Also for away fans to get public transport home. I don’t like the way paying fans that go to game are penalised for SKY subscribers who watch it at home moaning that they would go and see their team but it’s too expensive.
