Former Hull Daily Mail and Hull City correspondent who went on to be the chief football writer of the Daily Star has died today, aged 40.

This needs to right at the top. As a kid who first started to watch city I used to remember reading his articles in the HDM. Terrific journo, miles better than the **** we have now. Went to Hull Uni too, to me it feels like we lost one of our own. Rest in Peace Danny.

Actually a Fulham fan but like you say he went to Hull Uni and was very highly regarded in his field and much respected amongst the local journalists for his work wth the HDM.
40 years old and the big C got him such a shame, it's nice that he is fondly remembered in Hull.
