As comfortable a start as Laudrup could have hoped for, no elite club until the end of October.

I hope we hit the ground running as we have as tough a finish as you can get also. Won't get many points from March onwards I feel....unless Laudrup does something extraordinary this season.

No worries Mabon, I though the other thread with 30 odd posts was going to be the main one. We all know how we mustn't inflate the thread pool.

Not a bad start for me and hopefully like last season we're already in a good position before those last 4 games.

Away again ! I remember being home to Tranmere 1st game back in 2005 but I think we've been away 1st game ever since.

I'm sure we were away to Tranmere in 2005 Dili. Maybe I'm just losing my memory though now that I'm due to turn the grand old age of 21.

On paper it looks like a winnable set of fixtures up to late October. However in reality I think it'll be a lot harder. In a way I think coming up against a top team early on gets that pressure out of the way and gees up the crowds when we play one of the big boys. We didn't do well against QPR last season so let's hope that we can hit the ground running.

I don't think any fixtures are easy in the PL but we've probably overall got an easier start to the season than last year.

I was at the Tranmere match Union, Dilligaf, which was at home and I can remember Jason McAteer getting a lot of grief.

I think Cheltenham home was the last time, we lost either 1-0 or 2-1 I think.... Gutted were away again but a very winnable game in comparison to last seasons first game! Not to mention the players will be trying to impress the new man in charge!

Maximum points after first 8 matches and top of the table. Too easy.

Last 4 could be a bit tricky though.

I wanted Liverpool at home first match - didn't get that. QPR away is probably one of the most boring fixtures we could have hoped for..... At least it won't be televised meaning we will kick off on the Saturday.

Yeah 4 - 0 wasn`t too bad considering a new team to the top league & not used to being so much in the limelight. By that I mean one game watched by the nation & beyond when mistakes are magnified. We did OK for the first 30 minutes, then their class began to tell.

Hopefully we will give a better performance on the opening day this time, but I still expect to get no more than a draw. But we will have to get our act together pretty damn quick because those last four games are a bit of a bitch. We`ll have to be safe by April 20th, or we may well be going down.

Still looking on the bright side, we could be at, or near the top by October`s end. Today, when the fixtures are released is the day when reality kicks in. Let`s hope we have as good a season as the last one and we can stay up.17th or better will do me<cheers>

The up-side of being away first game of the season is that you are then home for the last day of the season and tbh I prefer it that way round - it's a good send-off finale.

With Man cIty & Man Utd right at the end we may be affecting the destiny of the league winners. :)

Why is QPR so boring? Quiet stadium I know, but close to the pitch and easy to take lots of fans to as home sections rarely sell out
