Next year, who are we predicting to be battling for what. I think we can all agree that it's about time Barnsley went down. Wednesday seem to unpredictable, but with Mandaric, money is available. Charlton seem to know where the goal is. Blackburn look to be mid table aiming. Realistically, this Season is a lot harder to finish in the top 6 than last. Hopefully the teams that came down can be as ineffective as us and Burnley were in our first Season after relegation and we should be alright. Automatic: Leicester, Bolton or Blackpool Play offs: Hull City, Middlesbrough, Wolves, Cardiff or Sheffield Wednesday Relegation: Barnsley, Huddersfield, Leeds
to be fair.. the "Boring ****" did bring them to us in the first place... he cant be that **** at spotting talent.
He came after Stewart, Chester, Rosenior and Koren. Leicester no doubt have the backing and the players to get automatic. The Owners will have told Pearson clearly, automatic is the aim. They'll be up there.
it all depends in signings - Mr Bruce will obviously be getting some new players in (NOW PLEASE) and suspect we could get automatic promotion this time.
I don't know what to say about City, in a way I'm not as confident as last year, but I don't see the point in predicting anything negative before the season has started. Hopefully some decent signings will excite me a bit more.
It's something that is sour in the mouth when spoken. But realistically, they will probably be in with a shout. Massive spending spree, more organised outfit under Pearson, slight bit more determination from the Leicester players. I don't think they'll finish there. I think they'll be around there.
I don't think Pearson is capable of delivering a team to finish in the top 2. His teams are too negative and don't score enough goals to win enough games. They'll probably defensively be solid enough to command a play off place, but no more than that. His teams play very much like the manager, lack charisma but can get a job done. I think we've got the better manager in place now, I think he'll do a better job with the youngsters and he has experience of getting promoted from this division. I feel more inclined to think we'll finish top 6 this season, than in any previous season. Bruce must have been guaranteed some sort of decent budget to push for promotion.
You see, I have thought that but talking to some Leicester fans (that aren't actually deluded, boasting morons) they made the point, that they play rather attacking at home under Pearson. Our squad was very thin when it came to selecting players for the formation. He did try Fryatt and McLean up front together but McLean didn't deliver so he thought he'd try Fryatt as a lone striker. As much as I hate the Judas prick, they have a point because at Leicester games they play with 4 attacking midfielders i.e Danns, Wellens, King, Dyer - I think that's their set up - with Nugent and Beckford up front. He seemed to play negative with us because we had no players to add variety to our set up. Fair play to Barmby, he found a slightly better formation, which sees Koren actually enjoy himself in his preferred position rather than being on the wing. Koren hated being on the wing yet Pearson insisted on playing him there. The 2-1 loss at Oakwell earlier this Season showed the worst of Koren in that position. I don't think Koren would ever return to Pearson for that reason alone. He'd rather be where he will play where he prefers.
Nah, still don't buy it. That's because he had to utilise players he didn't sign. His previous stint with Leicester is a more accurate portrayal...lots of nil nils and one nils, which pretty much mirrors his time with us.
I agree with this, Pearson was in charge of us at a time when we didn't have the money to sign loads of flair players and had to make do with what we could get hold of on the cheap. It was never going to be possible to turn that into a free-scoring outfit, and unsurprisingly Barmby had the exact same problem despite using a different system and putting Koren in the middle more often. NP had us playing some very exciting football at times and if we had a striker like some of the top clubs did, I'm sure people would have recognised it, but as it only ever resulted in a load of missed chances, people just see a lack of goals and say he/we were negative and defensive.
I'm really confident about next season and think we'll get into the play-offs, possibly automatics if we get the right players in. I also think that either Charlton, Sheff Wed or Huddersfield will go up because the last few seasons the promoted teams kept the momentum going and went straight into the Premier League so we have to watch out for that.
The only team that has the possibility to go back to back to the EPL I think is the Wendies. Mandaric believes Sheffield Wednesday are a EPL Club and will back them all the way with money and players. Charlton I reckon will be become a mid table outfit, and unless Rhodes can live up to his reputation, Huddersfield are going down. I reckon Brucey will get the players with the right integrity whilst realising the potential of the players we currently have. However, I do believe this Season will be the hardest ever with the mix of EPL Clubs coming down, and staying down but always being a threat. Very tricky this year. Consistency will be key.
*** I also think we shall finish above Lesta. ***I think that IF SB gets in the players he wants then top 6 yes and more than an evens chance of a top 2 spot. Lesta will be top 10 but i dont buy into them being the favourite at all., Its a very open championship yet again and maybe more so looking at other teams and what they can and cannot do. I also agree that Barnsleys time is up. They shall be the Doncaster of next season and i also think that Peterboro and one from Millwall-Charlton-Leeds will suffer the drop. Thats before anyone gets a 10 point deduction of course or worse. imo.
Edit: I also think we shall finish above Leicester but it will have to be another bad season for them and Bruce will need everything he wants if we're to muster a top 2 challenge. The thing is with Barnsley, they have a player who makes/scores enough goals to give them a high finish in the first half of the season, who they then sell in January and fall down the League like a stone... Last 2 Seasons for example: Adam Hammil and Ricardo Vaz Te.
