Why so quiet in other areas?....we are losing Collins and Ainsworth ...it's not quite time for GT's summer sale Blue Cross buys and all we are doing is playing games!! Salopian! Now, when we lost Ben Davies I know how much the financial difference was between his wishes and our offer.....seriously can we afford to lose good players like this? Keeping a good player may put a few on the gate numbers....all we needed for Davies was less than 15 per home game; I wonder how much our current losses would have cost. We are starting to look like Chesterfield, so let's hope the next three weeks reverse a dangerous trend.
Because we let Ainsworth go yonks ago, Collins was always going and we have aaaaages until the season starts. In GT we have an excellent manager, one of the best outside the premiership, and we will just have a nice season irrespective of where we finish. Shouting about it on here will do nowt about it. Collins left due to a lack of foresight. He will get more during the next 12 months, sure, but, unless Di Canio suddenly becomes a good manager who can achieve incredible success without chucking money at it, he will struggle to get game time, he will struggle to improve and develop as he would have with us, under Turner, starting regularly. He will struggle to fulfil his promise with Di Canio's stack em high, sell em cheap policy and anyway, was a victim of what I call "Matt Richards Syndrome" (No, not baldness) - he went from being criminally underrated by most of our fans to overrated. He wasn't even the best striker in League Two last season, and there are plenty more fish in the sea. We also have, in Gornell, a striker who is similarly talented and will do well in League One IMO.
