Hello PMK. His diving's better than his play. At least his team benefits from it. Unlike his anonymous appearances for England.

The funniest thing about Carroll's dive is that he had already taken the ball beyond the keeper, so had an open goal, but chose to fall over <doh>

<doh> Not to mention you'd think Young was the first player in the world to dive from peoples reactions. Its not even the worst.

More on topic, Welbecks goal was brilliant.

I believe we have played three times this year, before the Euros. All friendly games. Proves my point. Big players turn up in big games. Like big Andy, Walcott, and Lescott. I'll also give Welbeck his due, he's been very good in both games, whereas Young has been crap.

Every game in the PL is a big game and Big andy turned up for barely any of them. Nor did Walcott and Lescott **** himself when Kompany was out.

So no, they dont turn up for the big games.

Plus Sweden v England isnt a big game, regardless of when its played. Its 2 average sides against each other.

If/when england reach the knock out rounds then we will see who is the big game player.

You only notice either are on the pitch because you are just waiting for them to **** everything up.

I would say for England it was always the Ukraine game that is the "big one". Win and progress or lose and don't, Which would have been the case regardless of yesterday. Effectively a knockout game.

Ronaldo gets the headlines, but Nani played very well. Should have scored, but always looked dangerous and ended up with a good assist. <ok>

Very impressed with Welbeck so far, coping well and two solid performances. Young has had a couple of poor games though and I wouldn't complain if he was dropped for the next game. Be interesting to see how well Rooney plays and if he starts or not.

Ronaldo and Nani on fire last night. Missed the game as spent the night watching movies with the missus but all signs point to portugal coming into their own and Ronaldo finally grabbing a game by the scruff. Is this right?

Ronaldo was excellent last night, Van Der Wiel is a good, pacey fullback but he could not deal with him at all, he grabbed 2 goals, hit the post, came close to beating the keeper from 40 yards and had a couple of very close headers. Nani also had a good game, he grabbed a good assist on the break and should of had a goal (from a Ronaldo pass) if not for a pretty tame finish, Coentrao was also excellent in both attack and defense. Portugal could cause any team in this competition problems on their day, but until they replace Postiga up front I doubt they are good enough to win it, he seriously lacks any kind of pace and never gets involved in the build up.

    Nicely summed up.

Ronaldo up top would solve their problem somewhat until an out and out striker can fill in.

Possibly, but his runs from outside to inside cause all sorts of problems for fullbacks and central defenders and you would lose that moving him inside, the 20 year old Benfica striker they have, Nelson Oliveira, looks a handful up front, he works hard, has a decent bit of pace and is a pretty big lad, he lacks experience, which showed last night when he could of laid Ronaldo up for a probable hattrick but instead chose to take on a difficult shot, but he puts himself about a bit and would give the defenders a lot more to think about than Postiga, who at one point last night was given a free run at goal with a 5 yard head start after a bad mistake by the Dutch and he was still caught and ended up wasting the chance.
