Watching the France game and Franck Ribery made me think of this, he is an average wide man at best, nothing special whatsoever. Any others you can think of that are stupidly overhyped?
Have to dispute that mate, although Ribery is often average, when he is on one he is incredible. Haven't seen this happen for 2 years mind.... Overrated list?? So, so many mate. I'll go for just 1, Sergio Ramos of Spain & Madrid. Seriously. Actually, can I add Andrea Pirlo, does he actually ever touch a MOVING ball??
Milner Barry Ferdinand (Rio) Off the top of my head none of them do a lot during games but, for some reason they are the dogs nads with pundits etc.
I don't think he's on one often enough to be considered world class though mate, consistently average with rare sparks of brilliance, could say the same of many players. I agree with you on Ramos though, distinctly average. Pirlo is fantastic imo, controls a game, has an amazing eye for a pass, I think he's a more well rounded Yohann Cabaye, first rate in my opinion. I don't think he's overrated because I don't know anyone who rates him that highly. I think he is what he is, a decent winger, not bad, not special. Have to disagree, he oozes quality, will pick a pass that no one else will see. He has dictated both of Croatia's opening games.
Ibrahimavic. Seen this lad about 50-100 times over the years, never seen him have a good game yet (was going to wait till after the next match to post this, did not want to jinx us, but meh) I know he scores for fun in the league, 33 last season I believe, but I just cant see what the great furore is about him. G Barry. De Jong, K Andrews. All DM and all garbage. Busquets better than the above, just, but any time he gets touched he goes down like he has been shot.

The most overrated player of all time is probably between Alan Shearer and Peter Beardsley..How they ever played for England is beyond me...
Gotta disagree Beardsley made Liniker look class Shearer on the other hand talks about a good a game as he played...... ........total bollox!
I have to disagree with Shearer, great goalscorer wish we had him at the minute, his 2 goals against Holland and 1 against Germany in Euro 96, its what history was made from. If anything Gazza would be before both of those, he had the talent but for the most part, pissed it up against a wall, he could have been so much more. Not really overrated, just a bloody waste of a talent, and all his own fault.
Shearer would be in my all time England team. Any Safc fans saying other wise are just looking for bites or just being daft

Over rated? Probably Alves. He's got great pace and skill, but he's average at defending, and he's rated like the best RB in the world.
Overrated player? hmm, I'd say Modric is, good player, but not world class imo, how Spurs turned down £40 million is beyond a joke. Also, Neymar. Scores a load of goals in a **** league is considered good
