Sorry but am I missing something here? When has Rooney ever saved England in the past? I can count more times he's put us in the sh*t. Why do the media constantly try and barrage us with the impression that Rooney is our only hope?

I think we perform better without him. We actually look like a team rather than a group of players who revolve around one volatile personality.

Because he's the one player, other than Ashley Cole, that can be considered world-class. Under Hodgson he'll do his job and do it well.

I've got reservations - maybe bring Rooney and Walcott on after 60 minutes if we struggle in the next matches.

Wow Euro 2004 was the last time he did anything? I guess doing something 8 years ago makes you an automatic saviour in England's book. Maybe we can wheel out Michael Owen and Alan Shearer.....

To be fair, that was the only tournament in which he went to with 100% of his fitness.
2006 and 2010 he went in injured/had just returned from injuries, which made it difficult for him to make an impact.

For England's sake, I obviously hope he does well when he's back in the team.

As mentioned above, he is the only world class player alongside Cashley in the team.

To be fair on Rooney (because everyone hates him for being a douche)

He was injured for the last two tournaments. Both were on the back of serious (ish) injuries.

At 26 he has been an integral part of a team that has won.. 4 x Premierleague titles, 3 x Fa Cups, 2 x league cups and the Champions league.

He also has nearly 200 goals for united despite being played in a variety of positions.

    He's 'World Class' .

I'm not discounting the fact that the man is quality, but too many England players are rubbish for the international team. The case in point being Gerrard and Lampard, that were great for their clubs, yet flopped on the international stage. If England is still in it come the third game, we will see if Rooney has what it takes on the international stage.

Not only is he Englands best player hes the last Englishman to play well in an international tournament bar maybe Cole.

At United hes the main man, theres no ****s like Gerrard and Terry thinking they are something special and trying to run things. United are well run, well managed and work as team so Rooney thrives.

England are the exact opposite....hence why he doesnt thrive.

    Englands fault not Rooneys.

Cough, i'm leaving, cough, huge payrise, cough, i love Man U. Don't critise Gerrard and Terry while Rooney has caused problems of his own. Ironically, one person that hasn't caused problems is Ashley Cole. He's been England's best player period.

Gerrard doesn't come across as a devisive twat like Terry and Lampard is out of his depth at international level. Barry should never be playing international football he is far too slow and every mistake will likely get punished.

Rooney is better equipped for international football because he can play at a slower tempo, if he had good players around him I don't doubt he would score for fun.

I think most United fans and those with a brain know he was questioning the Glazers rather than the club. No different to what millions of fans of other clubs do, including Arsenal and others.

Also.......Cole and no problems in the same sentence.....you serious, like genuinely serious? Hes a walking problem.

He's taking money out of the club period. So none of this Glazer nonsense, i doubt the simpleton knows who the Glazers are. As for Cole, yes he's a royal A Hole and he's cheated on his wife etc, but for club and country, he has been exemplary. He will go down as one of the best, if not, best left back England has ever had. I would even go as far as one of the best left backs in the world since his later Arsenal years, to his whole Chelsea career. And i'm certainly no fan of his!
