Because I think Hulk (the £35+m powerhouse sought after by many top teams) is better than Podolski (who got relegated from the German league), I'm an idiot? I bet the rest of the Arsenal fans are proud to be associated with people like you. Let me guess - you think Van Persie is the best player in the world?
No - because your logic is weak. The Portuguese league while being one of the biggest in Europe is a weak league and not even in the top 5 for strength and quality. The English, Spanish, Italian, German and French leagues are all stronger. Hulk has a ridiculously high buy out clause which puts him up there with Ronaldo, the figures being quoted are purely down to City and Chelsea being willing to pay such dumbass fees for a slightly above average striker who flatters to deceive. Just because he is Brazilian, that doesn't mean he is good. Chelsea don't learn when it comes to paying way over the odds for decent but not great players. As you have seen in this thread most of the Arsenal fans here agree that Podolski is the better player/buy. So your question is rhetorical.
Better buy is relative to price - anyone who thinks Podolski is a better player is either ignorant, biased, or very stupid. You seem to be a mixture of the three, with the way you're attempting to justify it. Though fair enough - I can't remember the last time a forward from Porto (or even Portugal) made a big money move to a top league and did incredibly well. Must have been years ago... please log in to view this image
that was falcao, who performed no matter who the opposition. hulk does not do that, he is amazing in the portuguese league due to poor defending. the same goes for europa league. but in the champions league he always looks very average. he also never shines for brazil. 3 goals in 12 games for a striker is pretty poor.
Falcao has demonstrated that he actually IS a quality striker. I have never seen Hulk demonstrate this, all I see is a player with an intimidating name and biggish frame do nothing of note. I prefer to NOT follow baseless hype
Oh look ... another Arsenal fan who does not think Hulk is as good as is claimed, maybe, just maybe, some of us simply do not rate Hulk
You'd have thought all of the top teams in Europe would prefer not to follow baseless hype too, but clearly not if they're all willing to throw almost £40m on him. Why don't they listen to you? I mean your basis for not rating him is infallible - "the Portuguese league isn't very good". Scouting mastery.
Don't use , someone on our board does that and everyone thinks it just makes him look like a condescending idiot. You're no different, except perhaps not clever enough to be condescending. Or, maybe, it's the fact that an investment in the situation (the fact clubs you're competing with are buying players like Hulk while you're buying players like Podolski) that make the viewpoint warped and inherently biased?
If some chumps wants to spend £40m on Hulk then .. more fool them.Us Arsenal fans are more than happy with Podolski and I think you would struggle to find a single one that would prefer Hulk. Not clever enough to be condescending ? You know not what you speaketh. I used the emoticon to convey a level of stupidity on your part - considering you claimed my view was at odds with fellow Arsenal fans who have, in fact, argued to the contrary.
If Podolski and Hulk were going for the same price and you opted for Podolski I'd seriously start to question Wenger's mental state, as I think everyone who isn't an Arsenal fan would. I didn't claim your view was contrary to most Arsenal fans', more that it would disagree with that of most (informed) neutrals. Though if you REALLY think one of the most sought after players in Europe is worse than someone who got relegated from the Bundesliga then fair enough, we're all welcome to opinions - though your opinions are wrong.
43 goals in 98 international matches for Germany. 3 goals in 12 international matches for Brazil. I know which player has better pedigree and it aint the chap playing for Brazil
Podolski - 0.44 goals a game Zlatan - 0.41 goals a game Messi - 0.37 goals a game Ronaldo - 0.35 goals a game My god you're right. Sorry, I was wrong - Podolski is clearly the best player in the world. Sorry for ever doubting him, and you. I'm amazed he was ever a part of a side not good enough for the Bundesliga considering he's the best player around, and I'm also amazed nobody else went for him, and you managed to get him for less than £100m. Sorry for bothering you, I'll be sure to pop by to congratulate you when you've won every single match next season.
did anybody ever claim he was the best player in the world? no, it was that he is better than hulk. hulk is only expensive, as hothead said, due to his large buy-out clause. portuguese and spanish clubs like attaching these buy-out clauses not so that people will pay them, but so that clubs are deterred from getting them at all, because they are not worth that amount to anybody, even in today's inflated prices. more fool chelsea or man city or whoever if they want to pay it
LOL. Podolski to lead Arsenal to the quad. Tbh a very good signing. He is a quality replacement for rvp
He is a good signing, yeah. Just isn't as good a player as Hulk! They probably think Podolski is better than Hazard too, though.
HH is spot on though Hulk is overated....Chelsea buy anyone the media has a frenzy over for a period of 6 months minimum....just like Hazard is not worth his price tag..i knew a whore like him would end up at Chelsea..its the only club that is so easily mugged off...32m invested in AVB in 7 months...he really did rip Chelsea a new arsehole before he left
Spot on. As soon as Chelsea and City are involved the prices are ridiculous. Bids in the region of £18m were being touted last season for Hazard now all of a Sudden he is worth double that Getting back to the thread. Arshavin for Russia - thought he gave the ball away far too much. He seems incapable of making simple passes to a team mate.
