    Wouldn't it be best if they just paid off all the club debts in one, and then all the revenue raised by the club could be used to strengthen the team without falling foul of the FFP rules.

    the logic is quite simple - why rock a very comfortable financial boat.?

    The major shareholders could all put in a proportion of the debt according to their percentage shareholding. They are not losing anything because the value of the shares would increase proportionately with the debt cleared and then going forward instead of throwing money down the toilet each season servicing the debt, they could buy a 20-30 mill player each season. The team improves the results improve the shares go up the trophies come in, literally everybody's happy!!
