Simple really. Is he a flop, just a marketing exercise Has potential Star already, due to that goal Korean starlet Ji Dong-won continues to adjust to life in the Barclays Premier League after completing his first season on Wearside. The striker joined Sunderland from Chunnam Dragons last summer and made a total of 12 appearances. Of those appearances, two were starts - away at Wolves in December and again at Fulham in the season's penultimate game. The South Korean international scored two goals, opening his Sunderland account with a late strike against Chelsea in September. But his second goal will go down as a classic with Sunderland fans everywhere. The striker netted a last-minute winner against Manchester City on New Year's Day, rounding Joe Hart before slotting home. The goal made headlines around the world and cemented Ji's arrival on the English footballing scene. Speaking recently, manager Martin O'Neill backed the forward to continue to adjust to the English game following a transitional season. Dong-won made 44 appearances for previous club Chunnam, scoring 16 goals, and has scored eight times in 15 senior appearances for his country. He had a short spell at Reading during the 2007-08 season without figuring in a senior game.
Potential. Anyone who says Wickham is better is smoking crack. Ji is better in every single way. I think if he'd started every game he'd have got as many as Bendtner if nt a couple more.
Think he was bought for marketing purposes but, like all players inc Wickham, you need a run in the team to show whether you are good enough or not. Think he showed enough with the Man City goal that he is calm under pressure AND he always appears to have time on the ball which imo is the sign of a good player.
For both Wickham and Ji, next season is a massive one. I dont think Ji is going to make it personally but I am prepared to give the lad a chance as he is very young and has moved to a completely new country and culture. That kiss might have knocked him back a few minths as well. Lol I expected much more of Championshiop level and for England under 18's, so all this clamour for him to be sent out on loan is baffling to me tbh. What he needs to do is show he is a player and get his arse into gear and his finger out. He is not going to be sold on as he cost too much momney but he has to show he has the hunger and ambition and hopefully under MoN will progress next season. The same can be said of Frazier as well to a lesser extent and he needs to show that injuries have not ended his chance to become an established EPL striker with us. All the best to the 3 of them but we need 2 new strikers in next seaosn as well, so it wont be easy.
No way is he a flop, he's only 20 an has scored two goals against Chelsea and Man City, he could well become a very useful player for us.
I really think if wickham goes for it he could become a top top player and lead the line for us each week tbh. Seen so many players not fulfil his potential. Hope he does cause right now ji looks miles ahead of him
Personally I like Ji and think he may come good. He has taken his goals well and his first touch is good, much better than Whickam, who can't trap a sandbag at the moment
I think he has potential - it was interesting what the national coach said about him not being fit a while ago. There may have been something in that so hopefully with a new regime and a full pre season he will kick on. Make of break this season in my opinion.
If we all recall, Ji was playing in the K-League when we signed him, and was mid-season, thus hasn't had a break. I think he'll do canny next season.
Not bothered one way or the other, for all we know, he might be on his way come the transfer window / end of the Euros.
