You don't stand with your arms bolted by your side or behind you. You need balance you clown. A handball is a deliberate act, these weren't smart arse
If Portugal weren't so defensive and withdrawn they could've easily scored a few - perhaps would have conceded a few, but why not go for it ffs?
Low should of picked Klose instead of Gomez,ok he scored but he missed a few chances that Klose would of burried. Portugal played negative football until Germany scored then it was too late.Apart from the two shots they had on the woodwork, the Germans defended very well indeed.
Because if they do attack and don't score but do concede they will be ripped by everyone - especially the media. A major problem for us in England as well. IMO the media have ruined our national team, constantly pressurising and ridiculing and if we lose tearing into every decision made by the manager. We haven't even played a game yet in the tournament and already the media have ripped into Hodgson about team selection, his style of management etc. Give him a chance for christ sake!
Portugal are my sweepstake team so im really annoyed they played so defensively were much better playing a more free flowing style, There strength is in attack, but hay ho they should be denmark and then hopefully a draw against holland
It's like that everywhere mate.Bit of a lame excuse blaming the media for England's poor performances.
Explain how I was trying to be smart regarding the handball. Did I say it was deliberate did I say it defo should have been given what I said was true many times that would have been given and I think if the ref had seen it he may well have given it. Where I was perhaps being 'smart' was responding to your allegation that a player who has played for england barcelona and considered by many as one of the best strikers this country has produced 'knows nothing about football'. Which in my opinoin is the single most stupid thing I have read on here and thats saying something.
I agree our performances have been poor, but how in any way has the media had even a slightly positive effect?
I think we are going to have to play like that whenever we come up against the teams of real quality, otherwise you just get tore apart. Espescially for Portugal as conceding early against the Germans is suicidal as they are an absolutely fantastic counter-attacking side. I know where people are coming from though as it is frustrating as a fan when your team only starts performing once behind.
The media rarely has a positive effect, only when the team are doing well do they praise the team and the manager. The media may play a part in England's poor performances at finals, but that isn't the only reason to explain their poor displays at euro's/world cup's.
"UEFA investigating alleged abuse to Czech Rep players from Russia fans & gathering evidence with FARE (Football Against Racism in Europe)" UEFA have also opened disciplinary proceedings over the behaviour of Russian fans towards stewards in the concourse.
Well, if Pepe hit his shot about two degrees lower on 44 minutes then it's a different game. Fine margins in international football. Germany played a little bit better overall though. Anyway, on to the next games.
It hasn't, but all the big teams get the same treatment from their media and it's a pretty rubbish excuse for not being good enough. The players are taught to be scared of taking risks and scared of losing from an early age so they do it in international games. It's our own fault really. Every team with expectations experience pressure and dealing with it is one mark of a good team.
Not an excuse necessarily, poor performances have led to disappointing campaigns, I'm saying the media has an influence on these poor performances. agreed about the need to adapt a different approach with youth football. As a boy I was never taught to want the ball all the time, get my head up play it sideways look for it again and then play the killer pass, it was always; defend, defend, defend, hoof it out and pump it long if you can.
Well your boyfriend Gary and his mates Alan Shearer and Mark Lawrence are clueless. Hansen isn't too far behind either. Deal with it
The 4.3 victory of Argentina over Brazil looked more interesting. Everyone at this tournament will understandably be afraid to lose. Anyone think there will be 7 goals in the England/France game
