.............. but it's beginning to bring me down a little - I know I'm going to sound pedantic BUT I can't help it, I'm sure we've all got our own little foibles ! ! ! ! Mine is :- I don't want Sunderland to sign a f*#king tent this pre-season window. A marquee is a tent !! Nothing else - a tent, maybe a great big tent, but still a tent none the less. I want us to sign a player of such quality that he lays down a benchMARK as to our future aspirations, or a brandMARK of excellence, in the more modern vernacular a brand MARQUE as in cars, a Porsche or an Alpha Romeo. Please guys, you regular contributors who give me (a regular reader) so much pleasure and quite few laughs and some shared tears - no more tents (marquees) ta very much. Rant over. KTF
One too many a metaphor for me there. Friday afternoon so it went straight over my head. Hope your camping trip goes well.
I prefer a caravan to a tent, far to old for tents and sleeping bags. Mind even a caravan these days is a bit basic for me. Come on Mr O'Neil, lets go for a all out all inclusive, I'm prepared home to wear my wrist band at home games.
I liked this caravan - still do http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V6GXV0FNEeI hope the link works
All inclusive for me is a rubber undersheet, clean bedding each day for those little accidents, free tenna man, high backed chair by the pool, in the shade of course, liquidised meals and free coco at 8 before bed
About time you take a holiday, and come over to see me ya old git, before Victor Meldew syndrome set's in.
As I read the opening post, I just knew where this thread was going to go. You did not disappoint chaps

I agree we have already had our 'marquee'. Bruce standing in his newcastle shirt looked exactly like a marquee the fat geordie bastard
'Marquee', as the OP described it, is a noun. 'Marquee' as used in 'We want to sign a marquee player this summer' is an adjective (a word describing a noun) and perfectly correct: http://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/british/marquee_3 http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/marquee?show=1&t=1339244702 Sorry for being pedantic!!
