Gary Barlow 'To Receive OBE From The Queen As Thanks For Role In Diamond Jubilee'

Up and down the country people do all sorts of things without reward, just to help others, I can understand them getting a gong but a musician for organizing a concert, unpaid yes but publicity for him, massive. <grr>

Oh? And here's me thinking you'd be out there with your little flag, saying well done Ma'am for perpetuating the Monarchist self congratulatory back slapping and arse kissing.

This is how the Royals keep favour now by courting popular media and popular culture figures and attempting to look hip and modern. Politicians do it as well but then every 5 years we can vote to get rid of them. The Royals we have to just endure through the rites of succession

Now there is something to get extremely pissed off over.

I like Gary Barlow and know he does loads for many UK and world charities so have no issue with him getting an OBE (and a Knighthood in due course).

What annoys me much more is that senior civil servants in government departments get knighthoods for DOING THE JOB THEY GET PAID FOR (mostly not very well)!!!

And lets not forget the faceless civil servants, these government mandarins who see getting knighted as their rite of passage along with the obligatory inflation linked superannuated pension, parasites.

Unfortunately Utopia only exists in book form as written by Sir Thomas More who lost his head for his beliefs.

TBH I prefer The Earl of Coxhoe and Kella, mind the Queen will say Kello cos she is posh.

Oh and Cest, I like to think I can be balanced, some good bits and some bad bits, would hate to be blinkered about life, some are you know.

Nothing less for me than being Prince of Wales, Earl of Carrick, Lord of the Isles. Only have to take them from someone called Charles

Not blinkered mate just completely opposed to accidents of birth as a way to form democratic societies.

If she put herself up for election and won a majority, I'd happily stand there and wave my flag at her as the elected head of state of Great Britain. As it is I will argue until blue in the face (not the blood) to bring it down.

Yes people up and down the country do things and the queen honours a lot every year. Can't help but think anything the queen does the anti monarchy will moan regardless. Is it really that bad we have a monarchy. Do we really want to follow the US with everything to the extent of being republicans. It's bad enough we are starting to get the obesity epidemic.

So now if we have a Republic and a democratically elected Head of State we will all become fat bastards? Lol

Talk about a desperate argument to keep the Royals. This is the best I've ever seen.;)

I respect the Queen, she has one of the hardest jobs in the country, i wouldn't want to be a monarch at all.

I heard the other day that he was going to be knighted for the work he's done with organizing the concert, I thought that was crazy idea.
