you can say the exact same thing about Stan, he seems to be only looking out for himself and since he has arrived the team have been getting weaker..you could argue that he is and will continue to hurt us in the long run.
this, we should have enough to buy a few players without breaking the bank (even with these short term investments)
Your arguing a completely irrelevant point. I was never claiming we have a better squad than the invicibles! that would be ridiculous. I was just stating that SOME of the players we've brought in over the last seven seasons have been improvements on those they replaced. (and that we hav'nt been in steady decline every year like some claim, it's actually been more up and down)
Current evidence points to Silence Stan doing FUG ALL for the success and improvement of the team. I couldn't give a flying FUG whether we look great in the stock exchange, we are a FUGGING football club. Sometimes it makes you wonder.....
Not to the extent usmanov may hurt us in the long run. There's a difference between hindering our progress which I concede kronke may be doing and ruining us which usmanov may do.
you haven't read my post..it is perfectly relevant to the discussion. I have said that the team has been getting weaker over the years and listed players that prove that we have indeed gotten weaker after you had listed a few players to state otherwise. You made a valid point in that in some cases we have been able to replace certain players with better ones, however the point I’m trying to show is that the team as a whole has progressively got weaker. I am using the invincible as they were our best team and were a fairly recent team to compare against our current crop. As lazarus20000 said we have possibly 3 players that could potentially get in the team ( I would only argue 2 personally as RVP would be behind Berkamp and Henry). We have been getting weaker just look at our current team with the likes of Ramsey, Djourou and Walcott! these guys aren't fit to clean the invincible's boot's
But that's all just speculation, Chelsea's owner has made Chelsea far stronger and it doesn't look like he will be going any time soon. He has complete power over Chelsea is just as dodgy as Usmanov and isn't nearly as rich. He also has complete power which Usmanov would not have especially if Stan stayed on so he would not be a major threat in my opinion.
We have got progressively weaker over the years. From our current first 11, the following players couldn't even get to the invincibles bench - Gibbs, Santos, Jenkinson, Kos, Rosicky, OXO, Walcott, Arteta, Benny and Song is touch and go. These are regular first 11 players!
Exactly that's what ive been pointing out weakness and mediocre players have slowly come into our team (its not like they all came in at once) which makes it harder to notice just how far we have fallen from the old days..but you just need to look at the Invincibles as an example to see that we are much weaker now.
But you are the best-run club in the world. Your squad cannot have got worse if you are the best-run club in the world
And your the best team in Europe. You won the Champions League so you cant be inferior to Barca or Bayern in every way
The only thing that hasn't changed is Wenger. He has mastered getting into the top 4 with minimal resources. No other manager, bar Fergy, could do what he's done with the players we have.
Agree. Unbeaten in eight matches v Barca since 2006. And unbeaten 11 v 11 in 12 matches. We are the best in Europe... no doubt
Sagna better than Lauren ? No he wasn't. Lauren was far better offensively and a little worse defensively. Vermaelen on form was not better than Toure. Nasri was not better than Hleb. And you miss the whole point, the squad as a WHOLE has continually lost quality.
Just FUG OFF with that rubbish. I give Chelsea credit for winning the Champions League but to say they are the best is complete bollocks mate. You aren't even the best in the Premiership!
Lauren had a world class defence and midfield to mask his errors. What has Sagna got? And he still looks fantastic in our rickety defence and midfield. Also i'm sure more of his crosses would reach their target for the Invincibles. We just play a difference system now as no one seems to get into the friggin box!
A poor wum attempt I think most sensible Chelsea fans would agree that they were very lucky to win it this year, this guy is just delusional.
Lazarus, fair point. But Sagna miskicks half his crosses, they either balloon past the back post or never pass the first man - he has "Clichyitis" when it comes to crossing.
Our league positions prove that is'nt the case. 2011-2012. 3rd (70 pts) 2010-2011. 4th (68 pts) 2009-2010. 3rd (75 pts) 2008-2009 .4th (72 pts) 2007-2008. 3rd (83 pts) 2006-2007. 4th (68 pts) 2005-2006. 4th (67 pts) We improve... then key players are sold.... then we improve again and the cycle continues. We keep signing and producing quality otherwise that would'nt be the case and we would have fallen out of the European places years ago. All we need to do is not cash in on our established stars and we will eventually have a top squad again.
