Replacing them with inferior players ! We have gradually and continually eroded the quality in our squad since the Invincibles !!!

You hould have won the Champions League with that side. Even Liverpool have won it, for God's sake!

Dont remind me !! This is the problem with not being able to defend. In recent modern history no team that can't defend wins anything.

Can you not include the 01/2 successes with that side?

It's highly unusual for a major shareholder not to be offered a seat on the board. I think Gazidis spelled it out this week why they don't want him, he's got a different financial model for the club and the current board want to pursue the one that they are. Although historically, this goes back to Hill Wood sacking David Dein over Kronke. PHW was wrong then and proved his mistake when he eventually embraced Kronke. He was then fearful for his own position as Chairman when Usmanov/Dein were in a position to take over the club. That's why he instigated the lockdown on shares, to protect his own job.

I think that summed up perfectly Peter Hill Wood's thinking back when Usmanov and Dein were threatening to take over.

Now, he's just an obstacle for Dein returning and working with Wenger and the players.

I think he has been. I don't doubt if Usmanov had taken over the club, Dein would have been brought back on the board. It was PHW's mistake that robbed Arsenal of Dein in the first place.

    That alone is unforgivable.

Na we've been up and down.

    Sagna was better than Lauren.
Vermaelen is better than Toure (close though)
    Nasri was better than Hleb
    Scezney is better than Almunia
Wilshere and Oxo will prove to be just as good as Nasri and Fabregas.
Podolski is ALOT better than Chamakh/Bendtner

Its been a mixture. The key here though is not s need to spend crazy money just to show some ambition and keep our best players.

<ok> It's too simplistic to say that we've replaced quality with mediocrity.
That just shows where people don't see the whole picture, but instead want to make negative sweeping generalisations and soundbites to replace facts.

I remains to be seen how good Wilshere will be. Whether he'll be as good as Fabregas, personally, I think Febregas is the better player and even with a fit and on form Wilshere, we still need to replace Fabregas.

    Because we hav'nt always replaced.
Or we've not had an 'immediate' replacement available.

The players we bring through and sign will continue to be TOP class but if we dont keep our experienced stars the squad will always lack balance.

It's the selling that holds us back - not our purchases.

your just picking a few examples to that agree with you point <doh>

Henry + Bergkamp are better than any strikers you can name in recent times
Pires and Ljungberg were better than the likes of nasri, gervhino, Walcott or any other player we have had that can play as winger or a slightly more forward role
Vieira and Petit was the best partnership we have had in the middle the likes of Frimpong or Coquelin dont come close to these two legends.
and its sad to say but Cashley is better than any of our other recent left backs
and I would even argue that a prime Kolo Toure was better than Vermaelen (very similar players but Toure in his prime was stronger and faster)

I hope Poodles will be better than Chamakh/Bendtner - what did they ever do?

I agree on most of this. The only players that would get into the team (first 11) mentioned by The Bear would be Chesney, Sagna and RVP, other than that, no one else could get in from the current crop.

Agree with the bear on this one. Would hate to have someone with the corrupt history of usmanov even if it means winning trophies. Not worth the trouble IMO. Also it may hurt us in the long run you can't trust the guys motives.

I'm still skeptical as f*ck that we need Usmanov to be able to spend. Where's our damn money?! Don't give me that short term investment rubbish, we should be minted. I'm not saying that we buy 5 players at 20m a pop but surely we can afford to spend aroun 20-30mil?!
