Reckon he might try taking a couple of our lads on loan?

Some of the 'nearly there' players like Vuckic and Obertan could really benefit from the extra game time, with recall clauses of course.

Anyway, good to see Hughton back in the top flight, most of us have a lot of time for him. :)

Obertan he probably wouldn't touch with a barge poll, Vuckic I reckon he would take.

Congratulations to Norwich City on bagging themselves an excellent manager - the only problem I can foresee for Chris, is that Paul Lambert is going to be a very hard act to follow.

Chris now has a chance to show all the doubters that he is good enough to be a Premier League manager - I really hope it works out well for him <ok>

Is it only me that is a little disappointed in Chris Hughton? Birmingham gave him a route back in to football management and after one mediocre/slightly decent season he has left for the first club to show a bit of interest.

2nd season syndrome does happen (admittedly it wasn't much of a problem for NUFC) and there is a massive chance that they could struggle this season. Their top scorer wants out and because of his age, they won't get a great deal for him meaning he will be difficult to replace.

Birmingham on the other hand, are a tidy side with good, young players, still benefitting from parachute payments and without the distraction of Europa League football next season, there is every chance this time next year they will be passing Hughton and Norwich on the way back up to the Premier League. I would have hoped Hughton may have seen that and stayed put. With all respect to Norwich, it's not like it is a massive step up from Birmingham anyway.

    Tend to disagree.

Hughton has managed one club with an owner that had not managed to stop being an idiot yet and another that has an owner under criminal prosecution, massive outflow of players and a transfer embargo for part of the season.

Norwich has a sane owner, good scran, and a solid base to biuld on. Keeping them up this season will be the goal and one that I think he will manage comfortably. Birmingham, I think, are the new Middlesbrough. You miss the first chance to come up and it can be a hard division to get out of.

Oh, and a good Europena run, good FA Cup Run and a playoff place is really better than mediocre.

Do you think there are sone of our fringe/released players he would target?

    I'm thinking...

    Guthrie
    Ranger
    Loverman
    Smith

They'd all do a good job for him and it'll be good experience for Guthrie.

Can certainly see him getting Lovenkrands and Guthrie, think he will know to stay away from the other two.

I think he has taken on a difficult job. On the flipside Lambert is likely to have done some good work behind the scenes. 2nd season is always tougher so he'll need to buy well.

interesting comments guys and thanks for the 606 ers that have left positive messages on our board. I think we are pretty delighted with Hughton as a manager and as a man of integrity. We look forward to a decent season and a couple of quality fixtures against the mighty Magpies.
