    ‎68 years ago today, many hero's gave their lives to keep Adolf Hitler's Nazi party at bay.

    To those brave men and on behalf of a far less grateful generation. We thank you.

    They made a good movie about it. Tom Hanks saved the day but died at the end. Sad.

    You wouldn't see the like again, today's young people complain when they have to do a days work or stand in the cold for an hour or two.

    My old man fought in Burma during WWII. Eighteen years old and scared ****less.

    No he wasn't or he wouldn't have fought. There's scared then there's scared '****less'. He may have said this but that don't make it true.

    Yes, it was all a jolly good adventure, don't ya know. A grueling six week voyage via the Med, the Suez Canal and travelling across India in a train culminating in a brutal fight with the Japanese in the Burmese jungle. It was a gas.

    ive seen a film shot on the day my god loads of soldiers jumping out of ships the germans where just shooting at them what i cant understand why didnt the raf knock out the german sniper nest before the landings would have saved so many lives if the bombs had got the buggers

    War is ****. I've seen the American war dead buried at Maddenly Cemetery in Cambridgeshire, that was more than enough <grr>
