Its pretty much a lottery as seen in 2009 with a 100-1 winner and only 2 out of the last 10 winners have been favourites. Probably best off picking one out of a hat but I fancy character building myself.

My strategy is to pick something in the 25-33/1 bracket and stick an each way bet on it. I have a pretty good track record in that since 1997 I've picked at least one placed horse every year, although last year, maybe year before was a bit of a swizz as I had a load of free bets and things from the online bookies so I actually had bets on about 30 horses. (Thanks to all the loopholes and online offers available I was already about £100 up before the race started)

the winner will be priced at about 12/1, give or take a few. there are some regular indicators that rule out most of them but i cant remember what they are and haven't checked them out. and wont get round to either.

I reckon that Red Rum has a good chance it's a local horse runs up and down the beach around there so will feel right at home, fitness might be an issue though

9 year old Irish horses tend to do well.

What A Friend is currently 12-1, but is half owned by Alex Ferguson (may put you off).

The Midnight Club at 8/1 and That's Rhythm at 100/1 were my bets, at £5 each. Unfortunately I forget to bet this dinnertime and won't have chance now.

PS: I just posted an article about this in the 'General Chat' section, only to be asked why I had used the phrase 'Dinner Hour' by a rather nice Jock fellow.

Was watching the racing today and they were all on about Dont Push It so thats jinxed, I think a fast ground horse might win it this year and I don't think there will be a winner carrying over 11-2, as there never is usually.

Got Ballyriggs right but doubt anybody here backed it- managed to get 12-1 for Tiger Woods in the golf and fancy him very strongly to win tomorrow if there are any odds available take them (think still odds against in places but haven't had time to check)
