Appears hes back in the frame, I really want this guy feel this would be an AWESOME appointment. By the way also think Jen Chang was ALSO an awesome appointment, he really knows his onions. Both Guillem Balague and Twitter " Oracle" Duncan Jenkins saying we have had talks with him. There is probably not a person on the planet who has better links with the best Spanish,Iberian,Latin players ( basically anyone from Spain,Portugal,Argentina and Brazil). And lets not beat about the bush players from those countries are the best TECHICAL players on the planet " by a f**kin mile" Plus I think Rodgers may be more " relaxed" with Txiki than Van Gaal, as Txiki has he no managerial experience, in other words someone who cant step in if things go pear shaped It appears also there wont be a director of football, telling Rodgers who to sign and how to play, but Rodgers certainly wont have full control of transfers, I think Segura,Txiki( if he comes on board),Rodgers ,and even Jen Chang may be involved in that.I can see us having almost a recruitment/transfers board Im DESPERATE tbh for us to get Begiristain, I could really see us lookin at the likes of Muniain,Lucas Moura,Moutinho,Martinez if he was to come on board
two theorys: 1. get the right people and the the structure be what it is. 2. get the right structure and fit people to it. It seems FSG are on the first road and at least they hired the most important person first not last.... not sure about the right people but they will get thier chance to prove themselves.
Although I thought someone like LVG could definitely helps us attract a better standard of player than someone like Comolli I was uncomfortable with the idea of having an ex manager as DoF sitting looking over the shoulder of the new manager. Personally if we feel we need men in place above the manager then I would rather have a fella like Beguiristain in there. I wonder how much say BR will have in it (if any)?
Billy, whilst you can't rely upon the chin-music of the official statements or the supposed 'informed' comments of the media, it would appear that the DoF position was scrapped for a more collaborative model. Hence whoever is appointed will work alongside Rodgers and the new Director of Commerce. Now that was supposed to happen under Kenny but somehow it all went wrong! I know very little about the guys that have been mentioned above and therefore cannot comment. I just hope that whoever is appointed has a good understanding of what his targets are, highly honed communication and negotiation skills and a very fat little black book of contacts. You know we used to call these guys Chief Scouts in the old days
Yeah the good old days eh Dave (awaits reminicenses from the old farts...) As a fan it would be nice to know who has the final say with transfers/loans etc, as an example I was debating with a mate in the boozer last night as to whether or not BR had a say in the sale of Dirkus or not. On the other hand we do want our business done in private so guess we can't have things both ways eh As I think is the general consensus...we will judge them on the results going forward and have to trust that they are all pulling in the right direction collectively.
Are you sitting comfortably? Then I'll begin................................................. As far as Dirk is concerned, Rodgers was probably asked if he had any objection rather than saying I want rid.
I suspect our new 'team of football advisors' will be announced this week. Werner pretty much admitted that they, at least some, were already involved in the appointment of Rodgers. Expect developments on these new backstaff soon..
