Don't understand either to be honest, and neither why Lambert would. To be honest you should bid for him, he really would be terrific for Stoke! But back to the OP, £4.5 million probably is a fair price, but I think we will hold out for a bit more because he is Holt and we can. Not sure I'd want him going to a rival club next season though.
Thanks but.. We actually need two fullbacks and a half decent midfield.. not a lot to ask for is it? We have the forwards, it's the creativity we're missing. IF we sorted that, we would finish top half. Here's hoping but we've done that for the last four seasons! We paid around 12 million for Crouch?? BUT his goals alone kept us in the league, so IMO money well spent. Big question is, can Crouchie do it again next season? Same thing with Grant Holt? At Norwich maybe yes. At another club who knows. Henderson was brilliant for Sunderland. Liverpool nope even Reds fans don't rate him. Player's suit some clubs and not other's. Seem's Holt is wanting to leave anyway? His loss IMO it will be harder to prove himself at another club.
Who is interested: W. Ham Sunderland Villa? If there are at least 3 clubs interested he must be worth a decent offer of 5-6 Million
Such a shame that it has come to this, hope you can keep hold on key players like Holt and Ruddy, shame that Lambert has gone but then that happens.
Excellent point about players suiting clubs that's Carroll's problem at Liverpool. Holt's got a lot of plus points as he can fit many different systems apart from playing as a lone forward. If you put him a team with two other capable forwards who can score I think he'd find it very hard.
Totally agree with you on the point of players suit certain clubs, sometimes it is that a player could play for a weaker team in the Premiership and shine then go to a Big team and play badly, like with Carroll, he has not done really well, if he had stayed at Newcastle I think he would of got around 15 goals in the season, sometimes it can be the matter that a player is a one club player or that they just suit the set up or that they are playing without pressure, I have a feeling that is the case with Holt as he just plays and cause he did not cost too much their is not much pressure on him but if he was to move to another club for around 5 million which may be the record fee at the club he is going to he may feel that he has to do a lot to prove to them that he is worth that and I feel he may not do so as the pressure weighs you down, it could start straight after the first game if he did not score. For someone with a big move it is important to score on your début to get a bit of the pressure off your shoulders.
Of course he will take your players budgerigarF1, and he won’t bat an eye lid let alone shed a tear! He has previous, after all where did Fox and Tierney join you from?
CT - he's so excited by our imminent demise that he's strangling the cockerel under the desk at the very thought of it!
If he takes them, he takes them. One things for sure I won't be spending the next 3 years on the Aston Villa board telling them about it. Only a complete dimnut would do a thing like that.......
I just opened a thread regarding what Norwich have supposed to have told Grant Holt, that he is too old for a new 3 year contract. His agents says that the club told Holt that he is too old for a 3 year contract and that is why talks of a new contract have broken down.
Agreed. The Premier League is the real vipers den. Nothing gentlemanly going to happen. There may well be some gentlemen in it but when it comes to business thats all it is. Lambert has been saying what NCFC as a club wanted to hear. The players have as well. But thats as far as it goes. All our guys have a price set by the club. If somebody offers that then its up to the player as the club will accept it. Rather than worrying about Holt or Whitbread, I would worry about both Bennets. AV have a fairly poor ageing defence and very little width. They would be two that Lambert might well fancy. Young and ambitious and only a season into Norwich.
Saw that situation last year and the player went to West Ham, hope he ends up staying at Norwich, as I don't like Villa, Sunderland or Sam Allardyce.
I think if they can get this resolved and have a chat with him and offer him the 3 year contract or come to an agreement on a 2 year contract with a option which is open to a third year then maybe just maybe he will stay, hope he does for his sake and the club.
