I received an e-mail today from GT - via the club - many of you will also have it but for those who do not - here is the messsage.

I am sad to see him go as I saw him as one of the pillars supporting our club and ensuring it came to no harm - as I have said elsewhere I am still on the fence regards Baz

I believe, perhaps in naivety, that these are words from GT who is confident now that the storm we faced has been sailed through.

Without wishing to state the bleedin obvious but it appears things are happening backstage. GT is probably leaving due to being disenchanted by the general situation or is moving to let new people/person in. It could be hang on to your hats time again!

Whatever the outcome of the coming days, we owe a great deal to GT. Apart from his days as manager he has steadied the club when there has been trouble behind the scenes. My suspicion is that he has not really got along too well with Baz, hence the long periods of silence from him.

He has been asked if he will ever write his biography on a number of occasions. I for one promise to buy it if it does come out.

This is a very nice touch from the God on earth that is Graham Taylor. He has been wonderful to the club through out his terms with us. It is a big shame to see him leave, but we all knew it would happen as he had made it clear that when he became Non-exec chairman that it was only temporary and that he would not be here for good. He has chosen what he feels is the best time to step down, with the club in the strongest position it can be. He would not leave if the club were in real danger. For this reason i believe Afleck is taking out of his arse.

If we ever get round to building our new stand it should be called "The Graham Taylor Stand" IMO

GT deserves to spend time with his family and the stress free money earning that is punditry. He's more than given his all to the club and I'm very grateful for that. He's proven he doesn't run from trouble so i'm guessing he really believes things are ok whether its with baz or an other.

Perhaps a silver lining of him leaving is that this becomes an option. It'd be a bit crass to name a stand after someone currently on the board, i.e. someone who probably has a say in that decision. Of course, we need to get the thing built first.

<applause> and thank you for everything you've done for this club, Sir Graham Taylor. Very few people touted as "club legends", at any club in the world, can claim to have done as much to transform the club's fortunes as yourself in our humble corner of the world. <applause>

    G.T. semi R. (retire) I. P.

I hope he is leaving us becuase he feels that it is a job done. As some above have mentioned definately a sign of movement with the board / owners here.

A few months ago we were listening to the radio and Mme said "that is Graham Taylor, what a lovely man he is, and what common sense he talks."

For someone on the edge of football and WFC to know who it was without prompting says it all for me. He was the best thing that ever happened to our club, supported by SEJ, and is quite irreplaceable.

    Absolutely agree.

Although if we don't do this, there's always the option of an ironic fallback: how about the Graham Simpson/Mark Ashton/Gianluca Vialli (delete as appropriate/preferred) Stand?

Sorry, last comment meant to be in reply to LuxWFC's suggestion of a Graham Taylor Stand...

definitely it should be the Graham Taylor stand...or at the very least the Taylor stand, but we wouldn't want Tiny to think it was his lol.

Meanwhile, it's interesting that we're seeing this news from both angles. Both from the bad and the good side. I feel, like others, that after all that he's done, he wouldn't go if he thought we were heading for trouble, but then again, he might be fed up of saving us all the time and be heading out for that reason. I believe it's the former...i can't see him deserting us when we need him..and he knows, surely, that he is the one person that can avert danger...so i'm guessing he doesn't see any in the foreseeable future. I hope i'm right!

Thank you GT, a true Watford Legend, the very best...who did his best for our club, through thick and thin.. Heartfelt thanks. Enjoy what life brings you, you deserve it.

The first time in a few days I've managed to get up to date with my Emails.
Just have to say a big thank you to GT for all he's done for this club over the years. Am sure he will be taking a close interest in the affairs of WFC in the future.
I hope you enjoy your leisure time Graham.

It could also be about Les Taylor - the only player to captain us in an FA Cup Final thanks to Roger Milford. <grr>
