He's a bit of a talentless bender.

 

Hes seriously is an amazing player he can score from a yard out. He scores when he wants

I still think he could've done a job for us were it not for the dubious nature of his contract. Not particularly quick or strong, but good feet, comfortable on the ball and an eye for a pass, could probably have played in Cabayes advanced midfield role. Could've been rubbish, but barely got a go. Guess I'll have to just console myself watching that pass in the Villa game for Carrolls hat trick over and over.

He scored 3 goals in 20 something appearances in the liga segunda. Thats not a great return, it's okay if he's providing assists, but he doesn't seem to do that either.

 

Id hate to lose him but Xisco may be available to Arsenal for a certain price

 

Fixed. His choice in eye-candy has nothing to do with anything, however his lack of pride in staying 'with' the club this long is shameful.

Much like Smith, I think he has accepted the easy ride rather than taking a wage cut and kicking on with his career.

He'll be 26/27 when his contract expires, he's scored 34 senior goals as a striker to date, even if he has a good season on loan next, I doubt he'll get past 50 in total, that'd be over 9 seasons as a senior at mixed levels. Now as a free agent, how much can he expect to earn? Looking at it objectively, he's probably at a decent Championship level... £10kpw?

The old argument that comes up is that footballers have such a short career so they have to get as much money as they can whilst they are fit, who blames them for looking out for themselves....

What I don't understand is the average footballer retires at about 35, old in the footballing world but in the real world pretty young. What exactly is stopping them from getting a non-football job? The only thing I can see is pride.


Long story short, Xisco seems unashamed in collecting what is essentially charity payouts from us when he could retain some sporting integrity and still earn a hell of a lot more than the average person earns. If I were in his shoes, I'd have asked for a transfer when it became obvious no manager here rated him or wanted him to play, joined a second division Spanish side and built up my career from there.

He is quite possibly the Michael Owen of Spain, substitute Man Utd for Newcastle and 'the reserves' for '****ed off on loan yet again'.
