So Rooney opts to fight his 2 match ban and the FA uphold their decision

I thought that if the FA deem a claim to be frivolous, the player is then given an extra 1 match ban?

Seeing that the FA have upheld their initial punishment then the claim from Rooney must be deemed frivolous so where is the added 1 match suspension?

There's probably some daft loop hole like since he accepted the charge itself, just appealed against the ban length, then this isn't deemed as 'too frivolous' and therefore exempt from any ban length increase.

**** knows, you know what the FA are like

he'll probably be a twat and get sent off (or knocked out) anyway

Or a loophole like "He's one of our favoured players, an England regular so we can't be too hard on him incase he gets the ump!"

If that was Joey he'd be banned for life and imprisoned in Guantanamo Bay in the same cell as a large hairy man called BOO BOO!

All it takes is the threat of an Alex Ferguson phone call.

    What a joke.

Not necessarily, when we appealed Williamson's ban, the ban was upheld but the appeal was not deemed to be frivolous because the FA could see that we had a decent arguement, they just didn't agree.

With Rooney I think that his appeal was against the severity of the punishment rather than him pleading not guilty to the crime, and, as there has not really been a case like this, I suppose he was within his rights to appeal for a lesser ban.

Wasn't this reduced after an appeal?

That extra game was against us, of course the FA weren't going to extend it. Bastards.

Drogba got 4 games for swearing into the camera AND questioning the integrity of the officials.

Sir Alex got 5 games for questioning the officials integrity but NOT swearing.

Rooney gets 2 games for swearing but NOT questioning the officials integrity.

    So. That's clear...

Didn't that happen to Tiote as well? We appealed and the FA upheld their decision, but they didn't think it was frivolous and didn't add an extension.

As someone on here said earlier, if you have a fair argument which the FA simply disagrees with, then their won't be a ban. However, if you're appealing just for the sake of appealing (or just trying your luck) then it will be deemed frivolous. It's what this whole punishment extension thing tries to prevent.

Tioté should pay him a visit and hand out his own punishment...

I'm more surprised that the FA have taken action, I thought they would have bottled it and let Rooney off.
