I doubt there's anything sinister in that as changing clubs is a huge decision. If we wanted to sort it out early then we had to have made our move weeks ago as we did with Podolski.

If M'Villa said it then .. I don't want him, I only want players to come to Arsenal that WANT to play for us, not those using us as a fall back.

Yesterday I saw an article that said the club wouldn't sell him until after the Euros - no doubt to maximise their money.

Seems like a lot of bluster and guff really. Nothing official has come out at all about M'Vila even when we were supposed to be imminently signing him. The only thing Wenger said was 'No, we're not close to signing anyone'

It's silly season in the press at the moment. This seems like another page filler.

I think we blew our chances of signing him ages ago.

Not a single quote in that article from Yann and I don't blame Rennes for wanting to maximise their cash

Me either. I'd want Arsenal to get the best possible deal for any of our players. As far as I could make out he's said nothing at all and is focusing on the Euros. Fair enough imo. I'd love to get him and think we still can but the important thing is we have other players lined up in case this does fall through. Once the Euros are over = no more delays.

Should we hedge our bets and go for other players instead then ? I mean, we all know whats going to happen, the players we want have a decent tournament pricing them out of our reach leaving fewer quality players available after the tournament. Whereas if we go for alternatives now, we get a jump on other clubs and we avoid bidding wars.

I would consider Ettiene Capoue of Toulouse, he's looked very good when i've seen him.

I don't know how long these things take. I certainly think it'd be worth sounding out players and discovering how much they'd cost/if they'd be willing to come to us etc. I think the likes of De Jong would be a very good fit. I also think we could get him if he was assured regular football and who knows if that sort of signing would encourage RVP to stay (not suggesting every Dutch person likes each other but...).

We don't just have to be after the big names either. For example Jussi has announced his intention to leave Bolton. I think someone like him would be a great backup to Chezzers - free too. Whilst at it, we should also be actively looking to find homes for our fringe players so we know where we stand financially as early as possible.

Planning people, it's all about the planning.

Aaaah, apparently I "have to spread around some reputation" before I can approve. That's so bad I sprayed my cup 'o tea everywhere. I like terrible jokes me.

    M'Vila is very over rated.

He won't shine at all during the Euros, if anything he will just make Arsenal lose interest. Although the same old armchair einsteins across the internet will continue to hype him up.

Fernando would be a far better option for Arsenal.

I hear he's picked up an injury. The best thing for us would be that he misses the tournament and we come in and get him before the window shuts.

If France has a good tournament and he plays well his price will double.
