    referred to a quote from Wilson and Gutierrez(1995:45) which says ‘negative, one-sided or stereotypical media portrayals and news coverage do reinforce racist attitudes in those members of the audience who do have them and can channel mass actions against the group that is stereotypically portrayed.’

    Thank the lord I never had to do one of them on my course, mind you I did a 6,000 word essay wrong and have to start from fresh 3 days before it was due in on my last assignment.

    It was all Parson when it came to studying at Alevel. Didn't mind the ruskies but the feminists absolutely killed me - in particular a complete nobend called shulamith firestone (aye, exactly) who said all heterosexual sex was rape by a man!

    What was the essay on? Judging by Jonas' quote I did a fairly similar one last year about the presentation of race in the media. Was interesting stuff like!

    It was comparing 3 articles on racism in Britain as well as comparing anti-Muslim to anti-Semitic, and seeing how the racism to both in this country can be compared. It can't be, simple as that. Jews are seen as a victim and their racism came in and around the war, Islamophobia is more recent and they have been an aggressor.

    The two blokes that wrote all 3 articles were Muslim, and whilst I agreed with a few points that they put forward, they sounded racist themselves and blamed the majority(Christians) in this country for all racism. I had a field day criticising that, but couldn't go too far as I didn't want to sound racist, plus, one of them is marking it, so I put in a couple of compliments on his work, as you do.
