I agree but i think he would be better staying at Norwich, Villa have nothing more to offer than Norwich have in my eyes. Mad decision heh
I expect his player budget is a lot higher at Villa (along with his own wages). He probably won't be given too much to spend, but their are plenty of players he could get rid of to free up wages/take in a transfer fee, leaving him a lot more to spend. Give it a year or two though and he'll be at Celtic, or any higher rep Prem club that show an interest.
Interesting you say that! Us Canaries were warned he would drop us like a hot potato but naturally we did not want to believe it but it looks like it has happened Oh well, on to the next guy. If he wants to leave, let him - no one is more important or bigger than the club
I'm from Colchester, so I was probably one of the ones warning you that! The day Lambert came out saying he was happy at Colchester we were in Frankie and Benny's, where Lambert was sat on his own, despite there being a couple of CUFC players in there, on his phone the whole time. Needless to say a few bets were point on Lambert going to Norwich that night. Oh, feel free to take John Ward from our hands!
Hopefully he will do the same to Villa when a big club want him Just goes to show, no matter how much adoration is given by the club, fans and players - there is precious little loyalty left in the game these days.
Reckon he'll go in for a few of your players? You got a few bargains from Colchester, although I think the thing that pissed them off most (apart from the comp) was that Holt was set to sign for them, then suddenley the Norwich job becomes available and he went to you instead.
I think it is odds on he will take his coaching staff, I have little doubt about that. As for players? possibly David Fox, they were at Colchester together and his contact is up I believe. Beyond that, hopefully he will show a little respect and leave well alone.
I'd just like to say that, in case any American investor types may be looking at a Leeds board for whatever reason, I think Americans are fantastic for running football clubs and any club, maybe even us, say, would be very lucky to have you, I mean er... them.
Interesting tweet re Paul Lambert .... Eddie Taylor ‏@EastStandUpper Jesus wept. RT @jamesjamesbrown: @deadbloke @raymondhankin PL applied for the job warnock got. Fact.
Would explain why his odds dropped so dramatically at one point. I like Warnock but Bates really is an absolute ****ing idiot.
yeah I heard he applied for the job, didnt know if theres any truth in it, but looking at the way he left Norwich something wasnt right there.
I was told that Lambert was interested in the Leeds job, mainly due to it being closer to Scotland and the history of Leeds United and Scotland. I have to admit I didn't actually know he had applied for the job and now that I do, I'm really gutted we didn't offer it to him. As for his resignation from Norwich City, it's been on the cards for months and as I suggested he had already spoken to Villa well before McLeish was sacked. I understand Norwich have refused to accept his resignation, but this is merely a formality and once the financial compensation is agreed then Lambert will be released. Lambert is a cracking man manager and has now proven himself to be a very good football manager, I would suggest Villa is the right next step in his career and that within the next five years he will move on to one of the big clubs in England or Germany. I can't think who Norwich will look at as their next manager, perhaps the usual suspects will be named, Bruce, Curbishley, Hughton, Venables ( ) etc. The problem they have is they are not a big club and don't have the finances to be a big club (they have a debt which needs to be managed for many years), therefore none of the top managers would be willing to move to them and I doubt any of the top Championship managers would also be interested.
Malky McKay is being touted as favourite by SSN. Still in touch with Delia etc. & apparently fondly remembered by the fans.
