and off to liverpool it seems....

cant blame him, with managers they have to make the most of when they are flavour of the month or year, as in rodgers case....remember mark hughes when he came off the back of doing well with blackburn?? steps up to billionaires man city, is sacked and then after a year at fulham, reduced to fighting a relegation battle with QPR. once talked of being the next man u manager etc but one sacking can cost them badly...

as for rodgers, the club was already on the up when he joined, i think swansea will be fine without him as they have a philosophy which works for them. no- one would touch him with a bargepole when he got sacked from reading (where was the tiki taka football there?) now 2exellent seasons later, via the play offs and all of a sudden he could be taking over at for me the joint biggest club in the league.. you've got to cash in when your stock is high and thats what he seems to have done..good luck to him i say :)

    Simon Davey for Swansea?

Liverpool are definately not the joint biggest club in the league. A club living off glory in the 70s and 80s.

A club just outside the real big clubs off that league.

It sums up where they are now when they end up with Rodgers.

Cant blame him though. Swansea are a small club living on borrowed time in the PL.

Sooner rather than later they will get relegated. Rodgers now wont have that on his CV.

To be honest Swamp ,who cares.......

Anyone with any sence knows he was there as a stepping stone and as shown with past managers they are off the first sniff of the bairmaids apron to a bigger better club .

Interesting to see if they make a play for big Johnny Hartson now then?

Also intersting he was another muppet to say ...I have laid the foundations to a club i do intend to move from!!!

Too early to say, ask again after we have bought a few players. Next season all depends on who comes in and which players leave.

Disappointed in him really. He got my respect when he was quoted as saying he didn't want to talk to Liverpool. Looks like my respect was misplaced.

He may find things more difficult at Liverpool in terms of playing style. He inherited a squad at Swansea which was already bought into a style of play he was trying to employ. He refined it. At Liverpool he is likely to need to change the direction significantly. This may be bad news for Carol as I don't see him fitting BR's style. It will also be interesting to see how he deals with Bellamy.

I have sympathy with the swans as they have been unlucky with their managers from a loyalty point of view. Lucky with the style and ability, but for loyalty.....

Two teams will have an unsettled pre-season, especially with a few of the liverpool players being away with Ingerlund giving Rogers less time to deploy his philosophy, and the swans needing a new man and quick. Jenkins has done well in his succession to date, but can he find another. They've had a run of disrupted starts of late.

I just hope we don't get dragged into the manager merry-go-round.

Has Glyfi signed, or will Rogers moving on change his mind. Also read that Sinclair (or was it Dyer) has already declined a new contract. Rogers moving may have wider ramifications!

Good luck to him, for some reason i am not concerned by his departure, as stated earlier in the thread a lot was in place before he came, as long as we can keep siggy and sinclair i will be happy to leave things to huw jenkins and the board, as their track record suggests they will recruit a manager who will continue the upward curve we are currently on

Swansea have agreed a fee 6.8m and yesterday completed personal terms with siggy, thing is now will the news today scupper the deal, because he made a great play on the fact that rodgers was the major factor for him deciding to come to swansea in january, maybe rodgers will talk him in to following him to liverpool.

What does it say about Liverpool's ambitions when they toddle off to the Jacks for their manager? The Man U's, Man Cities, Chelsea's & Arsenal's of this world would be scouring Europe & beyond for their next manager, not the Mumbles!

I only said the other week on a thread on this board, I was only having a nose at the thoughts of Cardiff fans over the red dragon thing as our board was quiet, until someone takes our manager. Unfortanately thats football in the modern age, nothing the fans can do about it. Obviously i'm gutted Buck has gone, and to be honest think he's made a mistake jumping ship for Liverpool. Huw has been astute in the managerial appointments over the years, so I remain hopefull, what will be will be. I supported Swans during the dross churned up in the old 4th Division, i'll support them whatever happens in the Prem this season. No doubt we'll be favourites for relegation again after this, i'm just looking forward to see who we get in in his place. Football, eh, why do we bother? lol.

There is a big rumour down west which has also been reported on ITV news tonight that Malky is on our radar.

    good one <laugh><ok>

in all serious i had a look at some of your boards threads mabon, i cant believe some of the stick rodgers is getting, its possible you'll get relegated next year, and you bet no big clubs will be in for him then....

liverpool drastically underachieved last year, they can only go up....its a no brainer surely...dai is spot on with his views on this, there i said it..

It was the same when DJ was at Cardiff. Any top end Championship or mid to bottom end prem club that had a managerial vacancy and his name was in the frame.

I'm sure it would be a coup to 'put one over on Cardiff' and it may happen. I suppose it comes down to MMs ambition. Does he want to build a team and take it up, or short cut the way to the prem.

It's an awkward one as said elsewhere. He keeps the Swans up and its the legacy left by Martinez / Sousa / Rogers, he gets them relegated and he's a poor manager and set back in his career. It won't be for the money as I can't see HJ paying significantly more than we pay him.

It's ironic reading some of the posts on the swans board as they 'select' their preferred manager, treating other clubs as they've been treated themselves. When it happens to them they moan, but it's OK for them to do it to others.

Apparently Holloway is a fans favourite because he's loyal. A dichotomy that. He IS loyal and he stays with Blackpool, he comes to the Swans and he ISN'T loyal so doesn't demonstrate the characteristics that attract those fans to him!

Well, the merry go round has begun.

I hope the Malaysians are on the 'phone to MM giving him reassurances.

Seriously lads it is building a head of steam, and it was reported on ITV Wales news tonight i am not winding you up , now how much truth is in this is anyones guess, as far as we were concerned monday rodgers had put the liverpool job to bed, now 2 days later they are waiting for him to get of the train at lime street station<laugh> sometimes these things seem off the mark, and all of a sudden they have a life of their own, dont rule it just yet?

Swamp personally i am not bothered, but he like martinez made the fatal error of telling the fans as recent as last week that he had no intention of leaving the club, and lo and behold he is off, like i said and for some reason i am not that bothered about him going, maybe because of my confidence in the board to get the right man in, but he should have said nothing and just gone for it, there is a sense of we have been here before about it for some of my fellow jacks, when bobby left i was furious but tbh with you, i am not even irked by todays news.
