Best hold back because we have absolutely no chance.

Would be a terrific signing, but I definitely can't see it.

If Ashley was willing to stump up his 10 million value I think he would come, but we'd also have to pay huge wages, which are two no-no's for Ashley.

This will be a non starter.

Non starter for me. Would say the link with the mackems is a stronger one but again, can't see him going there. Wages are the big issue for both clubs.

I really rate Johnson, can't ever see him coming to Newcastle though, as has already been mentioned wages would be high, he may find his salary would be a problem for a few clubs though.
It may boil down to how badly he wants first team football, I'm surprised at how few starts he made for City, I did read somewhere a while back he had a few problems with discipline.

Would love it but I find it hard to believe with wages/transfer fee. Of course with Europe on the horizon the club may think one marquee signing will be a good move. I'd like him regardless of his defensive issues. He does like to play right though where Benni looks most comfortable.

Exactly the only way this stort has any substance will involve benny going the other way.

Spot on LTF. I reckon we could get him for £10m and 50k per week. I depends what he desires more, a healthy bank balance, or the passion for first team football.

I genuinely don't want him. If he comes then yeah I'll support him but this is the kind of signing we used to make and they were rarely ever value-for-money, I'd prefer to see one or two young unknowns brought in and players like Ferguson and Ameobi given more runs on the flanks (behind Jonas, Arfa, Obertan and even Raylor).

I think he'll already have a healthy bank balance, and it'll be about whether he wants to strut his stuff or not.

the guy is wasted at city but he was the one to force through a move to city jst like milner did and both spend most of their times on the bench, showing they only care for their weekly wage.

why the hell would he come here and take a wage cut when he can sit down on a bench and get a higher wage at city

we do need to keep an element of english players in the squad so why not add quality english players like Johnson rather than chaff like nearly every other vastly overrated engligh player out there

I'd really like him here but NOT if we're going to break the system we've only recently put in place. Absolutely no more than £60kpw I'd say but he's a quality player who would definitely improve us, just not at the expense of upsetting others. If he gets handed something like £80kpw+ then it's not unfair for our other players to expect something similar, then we're back to square one.

It would be a backward step to bring somebody in that would upset all the other players who've been playing as a team and doing us proud.

Not just first team football but the England shirt too and possibly family related stuff.

I'm willing to bet he goes to somewhere like Qatar, Russia or even China.

Correct. And he needs to be realistic (unusual for PL players) if he wants to play first-team football and restore his England chances.

If he wants to come and fit into our structure in terms of finance and competing for your place then fine. If he expects us to break either of those very functional systems just for him, I hope he goes elsewhere. As AB says, its a backward step.

Not gonna happen, but if he was willing to take a large paycut just to come here to play regular football...Id have utmost respect.

Not that he would exactly living like a pauper on our wages anyway, but still.

you all want him but where will he play

Ben arfa is best as a right winger...so hes staying put

johnson on the left wouldnt work and will be wasted

use the 10 million or so elswhere and sign a new RB and a CB (Debuchy and Douglas ) would do nicely
