I'm hearing. So Rangers won't get into the SPL automaticly. It will be a vote of clubs to allow it to happen. Its the result I wanted but could end with Rangers getting in still but having no sanctions.
If they get back in on a fair vote by the other SPL members then fair ****s If the SPL had just granted them a "Get out of jail free" card then that would have been an issue. Leave it up to the member clubs to decide their fate.
As I understand it that has always been the case. The repeatedly held and then adjourned "Fair Play" meetings at the SFA are **** all but a "how can we keep Rangers in the SPL" meetings. A farce.
Pathetic stuff from the SPL clubs. It's precisely this type of non-decision making / lack of clarity in the SFA rules that allowed Rangers to "get off" with the transfer ban. So, following the SFA's fantastic example, the SPL's solution is to make up the sanctions / regulations as they go along?
Many clubs fans will stop going to games if the rules are bent for the biggest benders in the SPL so they will lose out and personally most of us will have had it. Why were Gretna not afforded the same luxury? Simple really, money. Rangers should be made to reinvent themselves in Division 3 and should be stripped of trophies won by cheating.
No matter what the outcome of all this pish, the consensus is in; Scottish Fitba' is ****ed. Years of recovery ahead either way. Potentially lose one of our biggest earners or let the integrity of the game become marginalised over money.
SFA screwed up when they made up a sanction. They did not have a rule set in place for dealing with something like this. They felt that Rangers infractions were to severe to be dealt with by means of a fine or Scottish cup ban, but not too severe that would merit an expulsion from the league. These were pretty much the only options available to the SFA. Yet because they wanted to punish them in a manner that fit the crime, they make up a rule that didnt exist. Rangers probably should have just accepted this punishment, as the repercussions for their latest actions could see them hammered and thrown out of Scottish football. Rangers may well have won this battle, but in terms of the war, it may have just loaded the bullet that finishes them off.
If Rangers don't get their cva (no chance ) there are now more than 5 clubs that will vote against newco getting into the spl. Looking like away trips to Elgin , East Stirling ,Stranraer and Annan next season
Shot ourselves in the foot to get out of the war maybe? Then when we get punted to the 3rd the blame can be squarely laid at the door of the SFA. Just a thought.
I doubt it. Your club is becoming very much a footballing pariah and all the blame will lie at your door.
It was just a thought that occured to me. Personally I would prefer rebuilding from the bottom, but maybe this is a way to sell that idea to the more rabid of the fans. "We were treated illegally by the SPL, we fought them in court and won, and they kicked us oot." Like I say, just a thought rattlin around in ma nut. I still very much doubt the clubs will vote us out.
You may well be correct in doubting that the other clubs will vote you out and I would have tended to agree that they would be reluctant to do so but your club will have greatly annoyed them by taking a football matter to court. Your club will also have annoyed EUFA/FIFA by such action and incurring their wrath may have repercussions for all of Scottish football if the SFA/other clubs don't come down heavily on you. Your club should have accepted the 'lighter' punishment administered by the SFA but has now basically sh.t in, not only, its own nest but that of Scottish football in general. I note that Mr Green wants to meet with the SFA (see below) to try to sort things out - pity he didn't seek to withdraw the court action before meeting with them. I wonder what he thinks would be a suitable punishment now, given that your club has put Scottish football in an even more shameful light - expulsion from the Scottish Cup perhaps? http://www.scotland-mad.co.uk/news/tmnw/green_wants_sfa_to_step_back_from_the_brink_745923/index.shtml
