Toon offered Gameiro

Reports in the Journal today that last summer's top target has been offered to the Toon.
With Loverman gone, Xisco's millstone, Ranger out of favour and mixed feelings over Besty would you take this lad second time around?
Personally, although there is baggage (i.e. he rejected us) I feel he would improve our forward line.

Great player snap him up but he'd have to be aware he's not guarenteed a starting berth.

I reckon he'll go to Lille. Can't see him wanting to play second fiddle to Ba/Cisse like.

 

If we can do a cut price deal then he may be a good option.

 

Yeah on the cheap I would take him as cover for Ba/Cisse because i think Best will go, Loverman will go, Ranger probably out on loan again hopefully for the whole season and Shola (though I love him) ain't good enough back up for PL, FA Cup and EL if were still in all them at the back end of next season.

 

I don't think we shoudl write Best off.

But it is nice to be able to think about Gameiro as being Best's/Shola's levelof importance to our plans.

Best is good when relied upon for goals and given consistent starts, but he's not useful when used as cover/impact sub and if he's only given the odd game he's not really great.

Plus at our level he's not good enough.

He's a fantastic striker to have for a mid table team, someone like Norwich should take him. He's a better all round player than Morisson and Holt.

I'd get rid of Best because he aint gonna be happy here long term.

It would be brill if we had Ba, Cisse, Gameiro + Plus Shola ready to come on in the last 15 mins and tear some **** up.

 

He would be useful I'm sure and at the end of they day he is French.

Would be a definite for me if Ba leaves, but if Ba stays I'm not so sure we would need him, he is 100% an out and out striker and can't play in the LW position which is what we more in need of if we continue to play the 4-3-3 formation.

However if he were willing to come in and take Best's role as 3rd choice striker, then he would be a great buy, but I really can't see it, theres other teams at around our level abroad that can probably offer him better terms.

 

Don't know Malaga could be a draw, bearing in mind he would be playing in La Liga and probably the Champions League.

He'd struggle to get near their matchday squad, let alone start.

 

If the rumours are to be believed then he can be bought for as little as 7 million. If he does leave it will be because HE wants to go, why would we let a 15+ goal scorer leave for that price when a replacement would cost the same if not more? I guarantee if anything it will end up being Ba's Mood/Ambition/Wallet that will see him leave of his own accord.

 

To be fair he got 11 in 32 and thats not bad.

True. He had a 1 in 2 strike rate at Lorient aswell, definitely a talent. Definitely can't see him fancying coming to us and sitting on our bench.

 

Aye he was coming off the bench a lot from what I've heard, found it hard to secure a starting place.

Anyway the bloke can **** off tbh, turned his nose up at us and now we can do the same to him because frankly we've moved on. The only way I'd even consider it is if Ba wanted to go.
