Nope its racing. It defys the law that suggests a smaller diameter single front wheeled vehicle would understeer terribly.

A good excuse for 5 days of partying, camping, revving cars and sampling French cheese oh and a Stella or three...

I would go just to get it on with that idiot i saw punching those innocent lads. That lot needs some serious attention and are just the sort that run off when faced with tougher opposition. I will be following the blues and hope England fall at the first group stages. This must be the worse England team for many years

It's England at a major tournament, so of course I'm interested, and of course I'll be watching.

I have no illusions about the 'strength' of our squad, however, nor do I believe for one second that good old Woy will pick the right team - he'll stick with the guys that have failed so many times for us before.

My call on Hodgson's starting side against France is:

Hart (really no alternative, which for this position is a good thing)
Johnson (again, really no alternative, but by god I wish there were. However, with Walker injured, Richards left at home, and no cover at RB in the squad, Johnson's the only option we have)
Cahill (probably the best option england have at present)
Terry (purely because he is who he is, and plays alongside Cahill at club level. I'd play either of Jagielka / Lescott ahead of the lumbering arse, of course)
Cole (which would be harsh on Baines, who I reckon is destined to win far fewer international caps than he deserves)
Walcott (seems to be a sure starter when fit - and Adam Johnson isn't going)
Gerrard (Captain, and the only real option we have for a creative midfielder)
Lampard (why I will never know, but for some reason he keeps getting picked)
Downing (hasn't done too bad recently, needs to step up a bit on the quality of the final ball)
Young (IF he can stay on his feet, the only real option for a supporting Striker. Sadly, I can't see Defoe getting the nod ahead of him)
Carroll (at least until game 3, when rooney is back. Even then it's possible that Rooney will replace Young and we'll keep "The English Fernando Torres" in the starting XI)

Ill watch the games in complete apathy, i wouldnt go if I was offered free flights, hotel and match tickets.

i think Parker will be picked ahead of Fat Frank who i dont think has had 1 good game for England.

A wholly uninspiring line-up, the so-called 'golden generation' are near pensionable and they are all past their peak. Never have an England team gone into a tournament with such an underwhelmed apathetic support. I've got tickets for Saturday's Belgium match as it's my first visit to the new Wembley and I'm taking the grandson but it's difficult to feel any optimism with the line-up or style of play...

Some real Ukrainian scum on the news last night, there's clearly the potential for some nasty scenes. I hope those who don't want a piece of it manage to avoid it.

I, too, will of course watch, but with a distinct lack of care. Watching England play is about as exciting as my daily conversations with my Bulgarian chippie mate about whether he's a gypsy or not. Can't believe we're not using this tournament to try out some of the next generation.

    True, just look at NUTS!

That's a very good post from the best writer of them all.

Stan, why the hell didn't Poland go on their own for these Finals?

Clarification - that's not MY line-up, but I'd be very surprised if that's not the one we see against France.

My pick (from the squad) would be Hart, Johnson, Cahill, Lescott, Baines, Walcott, Gerrard, Parker, Downing, Defoe, Carroll, with Rooney replacing Carroll when available.

I agree Willy, I think Roy has already indicated that he'll play 3 of the Chelsea back 4 and Lampard would be a likely starter due to Parker's injury. Young just pisses me off every time I see him. One thing you can be sure of with Roy is he'll take no chances...

.....and he will play a big man, ie Carroll upfront. Well beck, even if fit, is not really a target man for me.

Swords, I guess Poland just couldn't afford to renovate/ build the number of grounds that the competition needs. UEFA clearly at fault yet again for thinking that Ukraine is politically and geographically suitable for this tournament.

I have to say I don't even know when the whole thing starts and when we're playing - I'm that uninspired!

I'm likely to stay that way until the likes of Cleverley, Wilshire and Rodwell start cementing places in the team (sooner rather than later please).

I am looking forward to seeing the teams with lesser (unrealistic) expectations than In-ger-land and the vastly more entertaining football that they're bound to produce.

Could be a long wait with Roy picking...

Let's hope some quality wins the tournament...

I had nearly erased that from my memory. Russia is nearly as bad - wonder if would be travelers know how long it will take them to get a visa ( they take your passport away for weeks) and just how dangerous that country is. Of course, all may have changed by then......it's one of the very few countries I refuse to travel to for work. Think I would add Ukraine to the list, but thankfully I've never been asked to go there.

With the risk of getting my head lopped off! Was there a little bit of England kind of presuming they'd get the World Cup, kinda like presuming the team will win it every time it comes around?

I think its great to have confidence and I've no doubt England would be a fantastic venue for a World Cup. However, I felt the anger and dismay shown when the W C wasn't awarded was just a tad arrogant.

I want to make it clear: England is one of the best Nations on earth with a wonderful people. Looking in from the outside though, sometimes it seems like the footballing public still think England are footballing giants on the World Stage when unfortunately that's not been the case for eons. Kinda like Liverpool fans still thinking they're the biggest Club in England (they actually still think that!) when they haven't won a League in over two Decades.

Still my favourite Country in the Euros after Ireland and I'd love them to win it.

(I'm already regretting posting this!! :emoticon-0184-tmi: Sorry lads!!)

I've been to Russia many times and I have to say my experiences have been the complete opposite of what you describe SB. The ordinary people are lovely and great to have a drink with, the cities are a bit of a mess but full of beautiful buildings.

The visa system is a pain and I resent having to pay for them but I've never had to wait longer than a couple of days for one; maybe they're easier to get here in Ireland, I don't know.

I've always enjoyed my trips there notwithstanding the inevitable bureaucracy. I can't wait to go back.

Let the floodgates open, Swords! Actually I agree we were arrogant and naive in assuming that the best bid would win. But I think it was the sheer inanity of selecting Qatar and the blatant corruption of the whole process that stirred our anger and indignation more than anything else. If thevUS (or was it Australia?) had won, there would have been much less outrage. We haven't learned that most of the rest of the world either hates us or operates under rules we don't understand.

Glad to here it mate, and exactly why you should never take one persons opinion as the truth. May be because I work for a very risk averse US company Which overplays security a bit. Delighted that you enjoy your time there, and have to say my Russian colleagues are brilliant. But it remains the only country where I have been explicitly asked for a bribe by a government official. Not a small one either.
