I see the problem now - you are taking this thread way to seriously. Just chill and join in the fun. It's a bit of speculation while we wait for the next season to start. Don't see how it brings people down. We have a great club and will still be great even when Brendan leaves, which he already said he will do (eventually). So lighten up. Who do you want as our next manager? To make it easier for you, assume it will be in another 2-3 seasons. We also have a squad of great players, but it doesn't stop people speculating on who's staying, who's going and who's coming. I don't get down about that so no need for you (or others) to get down about this thread.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2012/may/28/liverpool-owners-roberto-martinez Roberto Martinez set to hold further talks with Liverpool today.
That has also puzzled me. They have met once and are planning to meet again today. Surely the possibility of Martinez becoming manager is still there. But reports from USA are suggesting that Liverpool will take their time and interview others first. So current speculation seems to be that Rodgers is No. 1 choice but Martinez is still in the frame. I also think that Di Matteo would be a great choice, but don't think he'd be interested in Swansea.
I hope you're right. You can lay odds at betfair and others. Hope you make a killing and Brendan stays.
Casual fan, your name should be causal fan because you're causing a whole load of grief to genuine fans. If you don't see that, I give up.
I don't see how, so please enlighten me. All people on here are always speculating about players. Just tell me what's so different speculating about a manager. Especially one that has already said he will leave for a bigger club. It seems you love the manager more than the club. The club will still be here when Brendan has left. I just don't see what the problem is if we get a new manager. If we'd stuck by a past manager we'd still be in League Two or worse. We've done very well with new managers. So it should be a cause to celebrate if we end up with a better manager. I really don't see the how it's causing you grief. Maybe you're over-sensitive.
I don't think he can refuse permission because I'm pretty sure there is a clause in Brendan's contract saying he can talk to a big club. Obviously I don't know the exact wording of the contract but it's common knowledge that he has a get out clause. So nothing Huw can do apart from try to persuade him to stay? So who would you like as a replacement. Odds are now getting very short 2-5 with William Hill, 1-2 with some others. Favorite with everyone and odds-on with everyone. Please don't still say nothing is going on. He has as good as got the job. Odds don't get that short for no reason at all.
I support the Origional Article. I beleive that it is a very fair point to make and that it is unfair to have a go at the poster of this thread,he is bringing up a point that all the National press is following at the moment so why the Hell shouldn't there be speculation about who would replace him if he left?? It would be very difficult to replace Brenden but i said this about Martinez and Sousa so in the board i trust !!
Personally, I don't find the prospect of losing our manager and speculating over his replacement as 'fun'. If he goes, so be it and I'll deal with it if and when it happens.
I agree with Classy. The OP has every right to put up his thread. It's a legitimate subject under all the circumstances that currently prevail. Those not wishing to contribute to the thread can ignore it. Others should be able to post their points of view without being thought of as traitors. This is an open Forum, and threads,(hopefully,non-confrontational and insult free), should be encouraged, for without them, there would be no Forum.
I find it interesting that there are no markets for our next manager. There are markets for Wigan's next manager and even Norwich, but nothing for us. There is a market for Pep Guardiola's next club however, and we are in the running...albeit at 100/1
Hmm - maybe we should speculate how much longer the team A Casual Fan supports will be in the Championship? How their financial issues are going? Because I can't remember the last time I saw such a blatant WUM post. Seriously, why's anyone even joining in? No Swansea fan would think this would be a good bit of fun as speculation. I have no problem with Cardiff (except the media bias, which is childish) but he should stay on his own board or enter into reasonable discussions. Anyway, I've spent long enough on this foolishness...
But saying who is the next manager as if its a forgone conclusion is a bit much, we have a manager! So the thread should be If Brendan Rodgers does go, who will be the next manager
As an outsider looking in, I thought it was rather strange that a Casual Fan can hardly contain his glee at the prospect of BR leaving and started to doubt he was a Swansea fan at all
Very ironic though if BR does go to Liverpool,We beat them & probably had some influence in Dalglish's sacking and then they come in for our manager ,strange is the world of football.
What you and others are failing to answer is why it's ok to speculate about players but not ok to speculate about managers. Will someone who disagrees with my post just answer that question and I may be able to understand your point of view a bit better. Goodland - Check back over all my posts and you'll see that I'm a Swans supporter and always have been. So silly personal attacks are pointless. If you don't agree with me the fair enough, but to call me a Cradif supporter because you don't agree with me is pretty childish and shows that you can't back your argument. If that's your only comeback then don't bother next time.
