At 8.30 tonight, about the problems likely to be faced at Euros with Ukraine and Poland fans.

    Might be worth a watch.

Just put it on. Saw the clips of it on the news with the nazi salutes and when a group ran down the steps & battered the Asian kids.

    Hardly news is it?

Do they expect UEFA to suddenly switch the tournament to somewhere else?

I agree its not news, and they'll cover it up for the Euros just like the Nazis did for the Berlin Olympics, only for it to return for their domestic season.

I don't think the Nazis did cover it up in 1936!

How come Sol Campbell is being wheeled out as some kind of crowd disorder expert ????

Seen as racism is one of the main issues people are concerned about he may be in a position to talk about it.

He got homosexual, judas and racist chants aimed at him (and that was probably just Spurs fans) so they probably went to him thinking he was an expert.

It's not about getting them to move it, it's just highlighting once again the deluded attitudes of football's governing bodies.

That Ukrainian FA bloke "No they're not Nazi salutes, they were just pointing at the players". Oh yeah, he must be some player that Seig Heil. Never stopped mentioning him.

Clearly, it's gotta be dangerous to go there if you're not white. I'm sure they're keen to give the English a warm welcome as it is. That attack on the students was planned as the other fighting had been quelled, and they had nowt left to punch. Where next? Oh yeah, the foreigners in the FAMILY STAND. It was repellent. At least the other goons had also gone for a fight, the Asian lads were just skinny kids who were caught by surprise and outnumbered. They had no interest in fighting, the other lot were pumped up to ****. Cowardly.

It can't be right. Hence the point of the program.

Platini and Bladder excel themselves again. I'm sure Russia is far more advanced come World Cup time. Errr.

Disgusting though it undoubtedly is, its hardly a shock, 'UEFA gives tournament to unfit country shocker' wonder if there were any brown envelopes eh ?

Thought using Sol Campbell's opinion on the acts of moronic racist violence rather than someone with some academic knowledge of the subject cheapened the point.

But he has no analytical insight into causes or possible solutions.

Might as well get the woman next door to comment "OOoooh look at that , that's awful! Did you see that? Oooh, I wouldn't go there etc"

I'm not sure the Sieg Heil link was illuminating

Most looked gormless and young to have any kind of coherent political outlook

Ukraine seems a brutalised, repressed, poor, post totalitarian state looking for a new identity and failing abysmally to find it.

Agree totally with your last point there.

Think much of Eastern Europe is in the same boat, ****ed up by Nazi advancement initially, and then Soviet domination afterward.

Very much trying to find themselves and looking angry and confused.

thing is though, as Henry Winter pointed out the thugs have been pretty much priced out of the stadia, its the surrounding areas which will be the main issue where they are less contained

There won't be many English out there in Ukraine, thousands of tickets have been returned to UEFA as Donetsk is just to far out with very poor transport links and the hotel prices are just fooking crazy. Englands third game against Ukraine is Donestk could easily be a game that kicks off in the stands especially if Ukraine are going out of the tournament.

Germany v Netherlands in Kharkiv (were the fighting was in the stadium) looks all set for carnage.

These are the cheapest Euro's for years, Club Wembley are chasing me with face value tickets, I've had to pay well over £500 each in the past.

Are Ukraine and Poland abit behind in terms of political correctness, obviously racism is not accepted under any circumstances but people are brought up differently all around the world, my mates dad had a Polish girlfriend who once used the N word in public, he then had to correct her and she never said it again

It's not that they are 'behind'; they have their own history and influences, like any other countries.

It's absurd to set ourselves up as the Greenwich Meridian of political correctness to which all other countries should aspire, we have enough problems of our own such as cruelty to children, a class system, cruelty to animals, high crime, high levels of violence, high levels of abortion, underage sex, sexual disease, racial tension, drug problems etc etc etc etc

Who are we to say 'Why can't you all be like us?'

Using or not using the N word is a pathetic superficial yardstick of how 'civilised' we are.

I know, we're not perfect in terms of correctness, but in places like Ukraine and Poland, is it the norm to be racist? Texas was/is a red state, they are/were very right wing in terms of homosexuality and race
