constraints and money i see the future as a balanced plan for safc, not broke but not man city, all teams will ,by the rules have to be solvent via income over out goings , if a back bone of the squad can be achieved with this in mind we will benifit in the long term. i posted this several weeks ago ,with the minimal of responce, perhaps its just me who thinks that we do have some good all round players we should endevour to keep to satisfy whats looming. take gardener and colback , good all round players and will not let you down were ever they play in the team, lets not forget the team ethos is changing within the rules of the prem league , not only with home grown players but also wage and income levels ,to come to the fore in the next two years, if any team can build a back bone within the forthcoming restraints they will be a better club and a more solvent club as well. its like a credit card you can have what you want but at the end of the day it has to be paid for in the end and as usual at a much higher cost look at blackburn , premier winners now relegated , who next, keep our feet on the ground ,stay in the prem ,remain solvent and dont chase the rainbow , its a glow when you win and crap at times when you lose , a few glimpses of big stuff is nice but its put into context when you hear other supporters moan about the turmoil thier clubs are in at the moment , and some are in europe , be careful what you wish for ,some weeks this season we have players in all sorts of posisitions because of lack of resourses, think what if we qualified for a comp anywhere heaven forbid.
First loophole.....put millions into the club as "sponsorship money" for naming rights of the stadium
I'd hate to see the legal mess that would bring about. Restrictive practices, Treaty of Rome, equal opportunities, freedom of trade etc ..... UEFA are not outside the EEC laws with these things, just because Platini says so. They could land themselves in a right mess if they try to relegate a team that ends up costing them £30m or £40m. UEFA / FIFA have had their fingers burned previoulsy with the Bosman affair and it cost them £millions in legal fees. They would lose this one too imo because if an individual or company (and lets not kid ourselves football is a business now) wants to legally plough £millions and £millions of its own money into a venture of its choosing, then there isnt a law or a body in the world that can stop it from doing so.
The big clubs will always be big clubs and will find ways around problems. Agents and the like will always be one step ahead of the regulations. We have had a tax system across the world for a thousand years and yet it is still true that the richest people pay proportionately less tax than those in the middle, because clever people will always work out ways of ensuring that they do. All of this fair play stuff is bluff and bluster - there is no way that in 10 years time that the likes of ManU, Barca, Real and Bayern will not be in the top 10 rich clubs in the world
How come this is only being talked about with us and some other European teams but, nothing is said about the two Russian teams who are paying fortunes for players and wages. Agree with Cest on this one and feel another Bosman type scenario wrecking the whole process.
All FFP does is restrict the small chance of smaller clubs finding money from somewhere (usually a rich owner) and starting to compete. So basically the same clubs will be competing in the latter stages of the CL as usual with one or two surprised thrown in. It will not make a difference to bigger clubs who will just use sponsors to pay a start signings wages like Man Utd were going to do with Sneijder (get Nike to pay up the difference between what Sneijder wanted and what Man Utd wanted to pay)
Exactly - the only thing is that the politicians need to be seen to be trying to change things when they know fine well that nothing will change, because privately they don't really want it to. Very few of them are in it for the good of the game, they are in it for their own self interest.
but its to with all sorts within the structure of the club , not somebody who throws money about , gate reciepts , wages, transfers, the need to show its viable without a sugar daddy
Spot on. It worries me to see how many people who have bought this FFP stuff and are actually excited for these FFP rules, the people who will be hit the worst by them is the supporters. Clubs will raise ticket prices trying to squeeze every last drop of revenue out of the club in an attempt to bridge the gap between the top tier and themselves. Just like when Sky TV came in and gave the clubs a massive boost in income it was the fans that lost out then because their teams kick offs were changed to inconvenient times on Sundays or Saturdays instead of the standard 3pm Saturday kick off.
I agree that you can't bankrupt the club chasing a dream. I don't see how the fair play changes that. Owners never lose money. They mainly pass any debt onto the club. Perhaps this is a rule they should change. That way when abramovitch or the city lot decide to go they should take their debt with them. Now the clubs would still be in trouble due to high wages etc but this would be easier to manage than 290 million debt. The champions league has created an elite in the English league which has made it harder than ever to challenge the top tier.
Gate reciepts probably pay for the grass being cut and a man to hand out the bibs in training. The Sky money is far from certain to continue as the corporation is under attack from the politicians, the internet and competitors. In the current climate it's good sense to keep costs low and be resilient whilst maintaining a decent profile for when clubs sell the rights to their games themselves.
Ze Germans have a good system in place with the Bundesliga, it keeps it competitive, ticket prices are resonable, and attendances are high across the board (most of the time). And they still attract big name players like Robben etc. I don't follow the Bundesliga to closely, anyone know if any teams are in admin, or have folded in recent times?
