    1. 551 BJMBUBBLES. Nice solid performer who has been around for a number of years now. Had a tradesman like win last time out in G3 company, but his previous two runs before that were a might disappointing. Capable of anything on a good day, but those good days don’t come around all that often.

    2. - CHESNEYWOLD. Has been missing in action of late, so it’s a little hard to line him up on form, so must be taken on trust. Must be doing something somewhere or his trainer wouldn’t have entered him in such a prestigious event. Might have to watch the market with this one.

    3. 154 CYCLONIC111. Gallant old warhorse who made off with this race last year. He’s another year older now and his recent form has been a bit of a worry. Won G1 three runs back and is as honest as the day is long. The distance is right up his alley though, it’s just a matter of whether is aging frame can do his hearts bidding.

    4. 317 ELVISMAN. A bright prospect who has quickly made his mark in the rough and tumble world of Group racing. Doesn’t have the experience of some others, but has a touch of class about him. Can he get the trip, or will Elvis leave the building early?

    5. 342 GORGEOUS GEORGE WASHINGTOON. Has struggled of late to live up to his fabulous name. Ran an encouraging second in G3 last time out, but this is a huge step up in not just grade, but class. A lot of ladies will have a ticket on him because of his name alone.

    6. - HEISENBURG. Another who comes into this as an unknown. The word is that he’s got some talent and might just surprise a few. If the money comes he might be worth a small investment, but others have the form on the board, so he has the job ahead of him.

    7. 611 PETER. Exciting type who has burst onto the scene in the last few months. Has yet to tested in elite company, but had a great win in G2 recently. Looks as though he’s been set for this, but again, both the company and the distance could find him out.

    8. 336 RAINBOWVIEW. Been around longer than Methuselah and looks a bit like him too. Knows all the tricks and this will stand him in good stead over this marathon trip. Put in a bad one last time in G3 so will have a bit to prove. The longer the trip, the better he goes. One to watch.

    9. 558 REDCGULL. As he showed last year, he loves the trip. Ran an excellent second in this race last season behind the wonderful CYCLONIC111 and has been aimed for it again. Will excel if the skies open. Form of late though has not been anything to write home about, but is as tough as old teak and a win is certainly not beyond him.

    10. 225 REEBOK RULES. Quality performer who is in this up to his eyeballs. Has been in around the money in G1s for quite some time. An ultra consistent performer who will take some beating. Hasn’t found success over this journey though, but this could be it.

    11. 485 RON. Raider from across the channel who has been battling away in the lower grades, for what seems like eternity. The mumble is that he’s been showing something in his early morning workouts, but that’s a subject best not raised in polite company.

    12. 111 SAVETHEHUMANS. Another very exciting young colt who has swept all before him of late. Comes into this with back to back wins in G1 racing to his credit, and will likely go to the barrier as the favourite. Brilliant over the middle distance, but unknown at to 20f.

    13. 723 SIR PERCY. Toiling away in the lower grades of late, but capable of a big run. It’s a leap from the dogfighting in G3 to this all in brawl of a G1 event. Will go off at long odds. It’s whispered that his rider might have to take a cut lunch with him for the trip.

    14. 441 SMOKIN BEAU. Has been given a bit of a breather of late. This hints at possibly a decent run this time in. Maybe he goes best fresh. A winner last up who hints at a liking for distance racing. Could run a bold race here. Well worth an eachway ticket.

    15. 322 STICK. The peoples champion. A robust gelding who’s form of late merits respect. As he’ll be of no use in the breeding barn, he’ll be out to make every post a winner here. A brilliant galloper on his day, but has been known to put in a shocker.

    16. 534 WOOLCOMBE-FOLLY. Grand campaigner who will run an honest race. Has been knocking on the door in G1s of late and deserves his day in the sun. This is a tough old affair though, so he’ll have to be on his game. Would be a popular win if he can pull this off.

    BETTING.

    100-30 SAVETHEHUMANS.
    4-1 STICK, REEBOK RULES.
    7-1 PETER, WOOLCOMBE-FOLLY.
    10-1 CYCLONIC111, REDCGULL.
    16-1 RAINBOWVIEW, ELVIS, SMOKIN BEAU.
    20-1 HEISENBURG, CHESNEYWOLD, SIR PERCY.
    33-1 GORGEOUS GEORGE WASHINGTON, BJMBUBBLES.
    66-1 RON.

    Cyc <laugh> <laugh> fantastic mate <ok>

Stick is a 55 yo gelding - and the decision to chop his nuts off was made last year due to the fact he was trying to mount the younger fillies.

Haha bit harsh Ron, I was in the dizzy heights of league 1 last week, only getting relegated after hitting 5 seconds! I travel well but often encounter traffic in running, but with a clear run I could bolt up at long odds.......actually think I just got lucky one week so your description is probably better. I'll be off the bridle after 1f and tailed off by halfway

    Insider views and news.

    From the Ron stable.

"He's a bit of an in and out performer. As can be seen from "Betting Lessons", is capable of pulling off the occasional coup but needs everything in his favour. Has shown consistently poor form when asked to perform in competitions which explains his lowly position in the league. Reported to have missed some vital workouts recently due to set backs and it will be a major surprise to see this one get through the first round. Chances fairly reflected by his 66/1 rank outsider tag."
