Maybe its just me but I am very hopeful that when DM brings in the players that he "trusts to do a job" for him, that we will be a bit more competitive than 12th next season.... Clearly it depends on who comes in but if DM can also convince some more of our current squad to believe in themselves, we may see more from them too as well ala our Italian midfielder Cole-ay Skuse-ay. We all knew that he was a box to box player but he now seems to believe that he can do it and his performances on his return from injury were nothing short of monumental - now if he adds goals to his game as well (and not just the traditional last couple of games per season)... Taking Mike's comments into account, I would hope that we can hover around mid table for a couple of months and then slowly rise up the table as the squad gels and gets used to each other. I am forever the optomist but I really do think we will "exceed expectations" next year as I believe that DM's methods will be well and truely instilled in the squad next season and we will see a brand of football that hasn't been seen at AG for many a year... There, I said it (someone had to).....
Good post Invermere Mike. And also good sense from others not expecting too much to quickly. We could start the season with as many as 6 new first team squad members so it will obviously take time to gel. Thus I will be happy with reasonable home form, difficult to beat at the Gate and picking up the odd away win to ensure that we are always at least 10/12 points clear of the drop zone. Finishing very much lower mid table Anything better will be a big bonus. Anything worse and three relegation battles in a row could be too much for us all to take.
If we finish mid table, I would be a happy bunny after this seasons crap. Anything above 10th will be a excellent season. Really will depend on the signings he can bring in. I just hope we don't go through the same crap as this season,it was like watching paint dry most of the time.
It's going to be another hard fought season, firmly believe we will be around mid-table for most of it......we have a super management team in place now & I have high hopes for the season after.
This is going to be one tough division in 2012/13. Under Del I'm sure we will progress but I don't expect miracles. Class takes time to come about and so I'll be delighted with 15th or better given the likely quality of other teams we'll be playing week in week out.
It's going to be difficult - teams like Barnsley, Peterborough etc will be down there We need to out do the likes of Millwall, Derby, Palace (who I think will struggle), Charlton, Watford, Sheff Weds plus the play-off winner for a mid-table finish - I think that's possible with the right signings in the positions DM has identified. One worry is that having a major overhaul means they have to gel - important to get 3 in before pre-season on 11 July
It really depends on who he brings in - and we wont know that for a few months. However I can see a better season than last year if we get a good start, and if we can maintain the momentum. As for the gas - i really couldn't care less
I think Huddersfield's promotion is better news for us - was that really our Matty Hill taking that penalty - great pen!!!
yeah it is smh, they will lose there best player so i dont think they will be much of a threat?? but who knows, they said that about us
Remember Huddlesfield have Grayson in charge, didn't think he done bad at Leeds They will now keep Rhodes for a season at least now, as clubs will want to see how he does
1. Barnsley 2. Birmingham City 3. Blackburn Rovers 4. Blackpool 5. Bolton Wanderers 6. Brighton and Hove Albion 7. Bristol City 8. Burnley 9. Cardiff City 10. Charlton Athletic 11. Crystal Palace 12. Sheffield Wednesday 23. Watford 24. Wolverhampton Wanderers All 24 teams next season
It's hard to say until McInnes makes his signings, and with the talk of Adomah going I think we'll only slightly improve our position this year, around 16th. If McInnes gets the funds and is allowed to really rebuild, then I think we could see as high as tenth.
