Set to sign a season long loan deal with us, turned down Benfica apparently. Views? Think with first team football, he can be a very decent left back.

Source- Twitter (but this seems plausible)

I can second this. A mate messaged me earlier today saying this, I thought he was having me on, but it appears true.

Cant see the need for him to sign, unless Taiwo isnt signing...

Yep seen a couple. Coming from sky too. Seems a little strange though, what about Taiwo and with Traore too I'd have thought there are more pressing areas. Unless Adel is going and MH sees Traore regularly starting further forward so wants the cover. Saw fabio make some horror mistakes and appeared lazy at times but may add to squad as a whole.

Must be noted Fabio did play RB in the Champions League final last season.

By trade yes, but I'm guessing his versatility on both flanks may provide cover for Onuoha as well as Taiwo (if he does signs) with the assumption Traore may be pushed further forward

Maybe Taiwo isnt signing, dont foget we will miss both Taiwo and Traore to the ACON in January.

Maybe hes signed as a RB, thats one area we need to strengthen.

Good player, its just that its a but puzzling as to why we have signed him.
    From wiki, could have legs.

"In April 2012, Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson announced that Fábio would leave the club on loan for the 2012–13 season by saying "Fabio will go on loan next season to give him concentrated first-team experience".[21]"

    It was reported here https://twitter.com/#!/_GoncaloLopes

Some United fans seem to think his natural position is in fact RB, just he wasn't as good as his brother so was deployed as a LB. He's better an Onuoha as a RB, which will at least mean Onuoha can play CB and hopefully learn some positional sense over the summer

Would be a great signing for us, still young and hungry. Unlike some of the other players we've been linked with.

If he comes as a right back, great. But I wouldn't want to lose Taiwo, who could attain legendary status for us.

He can play both sides so I like this signing, it means the FB positions are sorted and the rumours of Young leaving might be true. I hope so as hes hopeless.

dont forget the rumours or Taarabt leaving, that could mean Fabio at RB, Taiwo at LB and Traore at LW.

Would provide us with good cover come January and a good chance to measure him up for a possible future buy (as by the end of the 12/13 season he will only have 12 months left on his contract). Seems to have a history of niggly injuries, so a season loan seems like a good idea.

I am a little worried. Fergie would not let him go unless the lad is offered plenty of first team football. If Young is let go then Fabio can start RB at Onouha can move to CB, which i would be happy with. If he is bought for LB then me thinks it might mean a "no deal" for Taiwo. Either way, he would not be coming to us without a guarantee of plenty of football. Not so sure about this signing (if true)

    Luke Young.

Started brilliantly for us, and remained so for the first half of the season. Began to flag just prior to his injury - now some are saying he's **** and on his way. I'm clearly missing something here. How did hot become cold so quickly? Surely a few runs out would find him returning to form, no?

Good question Brix. If Young is going and Fabio is coming in to play at RB, then as i said above i will be happy enough. Fabio is young and quick and this could be his last chance to prove to Fergie that he is good enough. He would also allow us to play a more attacking game as his natural play is to get forward. I felt that Onouha and Taiwo were both solid last year but did not offer us any real option going forward. Fabio at RB would do for me. But i am worried that it may be at LB. That might mean no Taiwo and also might indicate that MH has no long term faith in Traore. IMHO Traore could become a real handful at eith LB or LM. He just needs good coaching and more games.

If we don't sign Taiwo I will be seriously pissed off. Not because he's the best left back in the world, or even London- he's not. But he's good enough and above all he's got SOUL and he makes me smile.
