The exodus at Chelsea continues (http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/18185485). Drogba and now Bosingwa and Kalou and reported to be leaving.

    United have also released Owen.

Wages notwithstanding - Kalou would be worth acquiring, what about the others.

Kalou reminds me of Luke Moore. Lazy and lanky, Yankee.

Kalou would be a godsend IMO . A pent up talent , frustrated to a standstill while at Chelsea ... don't think we could pay what would be wanted though ....Quality !!

All of these players would obviously improve us.
Kalou can still have a big career I feel.

Unfortunately they're all way out of our league in terms of wages.

    I like Kalou too! :)

Wages a problem though in all likelihood.

Wages ... the big stumbling block? What exactly are these guys on? Since they are being rejected (err ... I mean released by their current club - Drogba excepted), can they expect top money when their roles have been secondary within their former clubs, or their careers are on the final lap, and we would offer a role in the Premier League. Other than the crazy money that the few make (e,g, Rooney), what is "top" money in the Prem for the mere mortals, especially those that don't have a "home".

Remember a player is only worth what a club is willing to pay and for Bosingwa, Kalou and Owen, with respect to their old clubs, that's zero. They are not even interested in these guys at low money to sit on the bench. Chelsea released Bosingwa and Kalou without any sign of negotiation, which I find stunning unless they already have replacements lined up.

Being a " Secondary player " at a club like Chelsea , Man U & Man City is a lot different than elsewhere IMO Yankee . They'll be a lot of clubs vying for Kalou . Could catch Owen at a weak moment & get him to sign semi cheaply (wages ) if there was a promise of minutes for him IMO .... a finisher of the highest quality

Agree Cracker, Owen would present a very good plan B option and all things considered would be much better than our current options off the bench, or perhaps starting from game to game.

I agree on the "secondary" aspect too. Still, it must be quite a surprise to Bosingwa and Kalou that one minute you win the FA Cup and the Euro Championship, the next minute you're released. And per fair market, despite what they've won, to Chelsea the players are worth nothing - either Chelsea have flipped their lid or they know they have much better or as good as waiting to step-in. It will be interesting to see Chelsea's squad starting the season.

I think the stupid spider hair cut did it for Kalou - how can you be taken seriously after that!
I thought Bosingwa played well in the CL final.

Wouldn't touch Bosingwa with a bargepole. Even Chelski fans think he's crap.

"a lot of clubs vying for Kalou " Correct Breezy <ok>

Both kalou and bosingwa started champions league final as a result of suspensions rather than anything else. The 3 named players will be currently on 50-70 grand a week each IMO. More than double of our top earner if I had to guess. For that reason there is absolutely no chance of them coming here. I wouldn't want them anyway! Kalou lethargic and looks disinterested even if he has scored some goals, bosingwa very suspect defensively and Owen constantly injured. Someone said Owen off the bench?!? Even if he cuts wages to 40 grand. Would be a complete waste and the board would never sanction it. No chance!

They're all non starters I think. The wages would probably be obscene and we won't be able to afford what they're used to for a good few years (if we maintain Premier League Status).

£40,000,000.00 won't last long if we start employing guys like these.

We need to be a bit more realistic, and spend the money more wisely,I think.

The players we are looking for will be those that Brendan can see potential in, they be will young, technically gifted and hungry for success so will be willing to work at the their game and learn from our charismatic manager. You can eliminate Kalou, Malouda, Michael Owen or anyone else who has been on massive wages, they are not going to suit us or the way we work.

Wouldn't want Owen unless it was cut throat wages , that being said Owen would be perfect with us .... doesn't need many chances to score , we could certainly use a bit more of that quality ...
