Well, poor misunderstood Joey knows his fate. 12 match ban, plus £75,000.00 fine. QPR are to hold an internal inquiry into the whole affair. Let's assume a scenario wherein QPR say, "enough is enough Joey, you're fired",and that his contract permits such action to be taken. Dave Whelan stated this a.m. that he didn't think any P.L. club would take him on,should he be dismissed. Now,would anyone want to see J.B. in a Swans' shirt, always assuming he was very affordable,i.e. free transfer/nominal fee,and fit into our wage structure? Is he the missing link in The Swans' chain? Could joining The Swans',and coming under the tutelage of Brendan Rodgers,be his salvation? Or is he a no-go area? As I say, this is a "what if" thread, and I am not suggesting that it could/should happen. Thoughts, anyone?
Please god no, we will be the laughing stock of the PL . And he would single handedly destroy what we have built over the years, Dave Whelan is right! The guy has no right to ply his trade in the premier league, or for that matter any league, he is rich enough just let him slide into obscurity!
Non starter.he's been a gutless cheap shot merchant everywhere he's been,as well as not being sorted out by the likes of Man City,Newcastle and QPR he was also on the books as a youth player with both Everton and Liverpool and was labled a trouble maker then and he also had a trial with Forest but was deemed unsuitable...bit of luck the next trial he gets he'll be found guilty..he's on a downward spiral now and his career is ****ed ..no sympathy from me
The Board I hope wouldn't even consider it , what as player could he bring to the Club let alone the Team , Warnock appointed him as Captain , what a leader , BIG NO from me , someone will go for him if released but they're taking a chance (again)
Can play but too risky on all fronts. Our resources are better directed at young, hungry, midfield players...with, hopefully, better discipline.
I'm playing Devil's Advocate here. I detest Barton on many fronts,so I am not espousing that he become a Swansea player. However,he does have a prodigious talent, and it may well be that the right person,(Rodgers?),could bring him in line, and voila,Joey is saved,Swans' have a new hero, and we climb the League. So what's wrong with that,eh? How would a rejuvenated Barton make Swansea City "a laughing stock"? Just think of the kudos for Rodgers, and the Club,if Barton redeemed himself. Who would be "laughing" then? The posts so far have all been as anticipated, but perhaps some replies were made in too much haste.
I have no particular "Barton feeling",cracker, merely offering up a point for discussion. Not much else going on really,is there? But if nobody is interested,no problem.
How it will make us a laughing stock? Simple the guy is an arsehole , why not ask this question on all the club's pages this person has played for.
Vetch, if you received a CV in the mail one day for a job (imagine you own a business, if you do not already) and on the CV it clearly states a number of criminal acts dating back over a period of 10 years or so, clearly states an inability for self discipline in his normal line of work - would you really invite him for an interview? My guess would be no, so please run it passed me again - why would you want him at Swansea City?
You have been selective in your comment, valley. Please read the post again,it says "How will a rejuvenated Barton make Swansea City a "laughing stock"? Were he,in the imagined scenario, turned around, then what's to laugh at,or about? Don't be so quick with your snide comments. He may well be an "arsehole". That brings to mind the story about a rather nasty trade union official called Clive Jenkins. This guy terrorised everyone in Government during the heydays of the Unions. He was a ferocious negotiator, and nobody, but nobody, liked him. Someone suggested to a union member that Jenkins was an "arsehole". Gleefully, the member retorted,"Yes,he is,but he's OUR arsehole". Do you get the message, valley?
Thai,I expected better from you. This is a "What if " scenario, and I am not advocating Swansea sign him.Go back and read the thread. I was seeking comments, not having to defend something I haven't proposed.
No snide comments, just a bit of fun vetchetarian. And to Barton there is no redemption for the guy, many have tried they have all failed, I don't want the arsehole at the swans as a rejuvenated barton is not going to happen, even the PFA are trying to help him http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/18186552 For me that is an Arsehole!
I wouldn't even give him a job in Dick Barton's chip shop on Mumbles Road. He's been trouble wherever he's gone. Name me a club that he hasn't been either been sacked from or hasn't been kept on at the end of a contract?
Regardless of anything else, he probably can't play tiki-taka and so he wouldn't ever enter into BR's thoughts or disgrace our Liberty.
You might as well say - what if JB walked on the surface of Jupiter. Come on Vetch, no matter what he says, however much counselling he undergoes etc he will not change. He has already claimed to have changed and look at the result of that change this season, if anything he has got worse on the pitch (in terms of discipline), and worse on Twitter than ever was before. Sorry mate, the guy was, is and always will be a liability.
You have all missed the point here,so there is no point in this thread continuing. P.S. I am FULLY aware of Barton's history. He is a troubled individual, and most of his actions have been reprehensible. This thread,as far as I'm concerned is closed. I won't revisit it,but feel free to post comments.
I do not think your point has been missed at all, your point being IF he was a totally reformed character. The alternative point being made is HE CANNOT become a totally reformed character at present and maybe never will be and if you truly believe he could somehow transform himself in to a normal human being and play football at the same time, then sorry but I think YOU have missed the point. He reminds me of some of the old hard core football hooligans at the likes of Millwall, West Ham etc - they don't grow out of it until they are in their late 30's or even in to their 40's. By that time his career will be dead and buried.
