Sorry to start a new thread, but I thought this significant a development to warrant a new thread. White, unlike Burns, usually likes to be pretty certain before he releases information. please log in to view this image
Yeah quite a few sources seem to think its happening so I guess there's truth in it. Positive in the sense he won't be cheap, perhaps a statement of intent from the owners. Bruce clearly has his limitations though.
I'm not really sure about Bruce, like most managers he has had reasonable success at various points in his career. At least he has plenty of experience and is quite a big name with a highly successful playing career. Only time will tell, as always, if this is a good decision but he will get 100% of my support. It would be interesting to know which 'football people' were advising the Allams during the recruitment process.
Now that we are in this situation, Bruce seems like the best option. We should be able to save our ties with Man Utd, he has experience of promotion at this level, he will have plenty of contacts, he should raise our profile (making us more attractive for players) and is also experienced in the Premier League if/when we happen to get there.
I could be wrong with this, but I think Steve Bruce is an appointment that would please the players, obviously especially those from United. From that point of view, should he become manager, I would be pleased. Plus he would be a draw for better players, being that he is very high profile. The downside is I cannot imaging him getting on with the owners. As for the man himself, I don't know. Haven't always liked the way he has walked out on clubs in the past and if he got us promoted again I'm sure he wouldn't think twice about doing the same to us. But if he gets us up, who cares? THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IS THAT WE KEEP THIS SQUAD TOGETHER AND BUILD.
I'm not a big fan of Bruce, probably because his teams always seemed to beat us! However, compared to the likes of Megson and Dowie it's wouldn't be a bad appointment. Would keep the Man United link going, he's managed at PL level and is respected in the game.
a great choice for a championship club thats about 80% there already - i dont pretend to know what style of football Bruce prefers though
Who would be better for us than Bruce? Serious question. No, Barmby isn't a serious response nor is Capello, Mourhino etc etc. I mean from the list of names we've all be pouring over recently. Who is better, bigger reputation wise and a better catch for us than Bruce?
so when will the press conference announcing him be. know may get some arguments - but he has to be the biggest name manager we've ever appointed. suspect Walsh will be kept on as GK coach.
