There’s *news in the Newcastle*Journal*today that Manchester City may be interested in*Papiss*Cisse.

    Lifted from nufcblog.....

It seems like at least one of our very top players is in danger of leaving the club this summer, if the bid for him is big enough, but we just don’t know which player that could be.

And if City are indeed interested in Papiss Cisse, when are they ever going to stop spending big big money on players and wages, and knuckle down to try to balance their financial books?

They lost £197M in the last financial year, and it probably will not look too much better in the current financial year that ends on June 30th.

And wouldn’t you expect a team that had paid out over £500M on new players over the last three and a half years, to do well – to win something?

If Barnsley, as just one example (no offense to their supporters), could have paid out £500M for players, they could have been near the top of the Premier League too.

It would be hard for any club watching Papiss Cisse this year not to have been immensely impressed, because not only did he score 13 goals in 14 appearances for Newcastle, but a large proportion of his goals were simply stunning.

Papiss scores goals that some of us only dream of scoring – but never do – even in our dreams – and never get near to scoring them either.

And it’s hardly a level playing field when clubs are allowed to spend unlimited money on players in term of transfer fees and wages, with no accountability – but we suppose it’s never really been fair.

And from what we hear of the transfer funds most of the big clubs have for this summer, only Liverpool seem to be cutting back, as they try to balance their books to be in line with the UEFA Financial Fair Play Rules coming into effect.

That’s one thing we really like about Newcastle’s current set-up – they have built a team payng our peanuts for their players – but Newcatsle have created a very good side in the process.

There’s something very satisfying about that, somehow.

There’s no way Newcastle should even think of sellingbPapiss Cisse this summer – no way.

Think it is just press speculation, can't see it happening.

He scores more than Torres, so I think £60m sounds a fair price! <cheers>

At that rate it should be about £500m.

Based on form, Cisse is arguably the best striker in the league right now. It's very easy for journos to say Man City are interested in him, much like most clubs in the world right now would quite fancy having him in their matchday squad.

Speculation and this stage and Cisse seems quite settled here but if he does fancy a move to City, £50m please. It'll be a real test for them with FFP coming up, that they can't just buy whoever they like.

<magic><jedimindtricksmiley><magic> You don't want to buy Cisse. He's not the striker you're looking for. Move along. <magic><jedimindtricksmiley><magic>

I agree, the fact we have been sensible with our spending is satisfying.

It doesn't feel like we're "cheating".

All jokes aside, Cisse signed a 5 and a half year deal meaning he still has 5 years to run on his contract. If Man City wanted him, bearing in mind their extreme wealth, I'd fully expect Ashley and Llambias to be mentioning £60m as the starting price and telling them to either put up or shut up.

Cause Citeh don't already have enough strikers!!!!!

They will also find it hard to move players on cause where ever they go it will be a huge step down in wages.

It'll be the usual bollox from the press, don't believe anything until you see the player there in person signing the contract and holding the shirt.

Why are Man City looking for a striker, they have Aguero, Tevez, Dzeko, Adebayor, Guidetti, Balotelli if he stays.

Stupid journalists, you all need to be shot.

Cisse is class but City would go for better.

He's not on the same level as Tevez and Aguero, both of which are superior all round players. They'll probably be getting shot of Dzeko, but I reckon they'll find somoene better for less then they'd have to spend.

Can't see Cisse going for less than 35 mil and even more if Ba would leave.

Surely Mancini is clever enough to not judge a striker on half a season. Especially when we'd be likely to charge them in excess of £30 mil. He's not Abromavic
