Oh well, have we signed the swiss keeper yet OLM? If so perhaps he should be named number 1 for the season ahead with someone like Ben Amos on loan for competitive backup
Apparently there was concrete evidence on Kirkland signing for us, it says on Wiki that he trained with us for at least a month and when Barmby was sacked he wasn't offered a contract
Nobody got their info wrong. Everything that anyone knew was completely cancelled out when Barmby left.
Operative word being "when" fit, he never is fit, so he would have been a completely **** signing. Value wise probably sailing in the same boat as Captain Bullard.
I would very much hope that someone is already in place and preparing a hit list of signings and contract negotiations. If, not we're been left behind by other clubs picking up the best freebies.
Honestly fellas, you dodged a bullet with that one We had him on loan, when he was fit enough to play he pulled out of saves he could have made to prevent him from setting off his back complaint
I reckon even if we had a pretty acceptable transfer budget, we still wouldn't be able to afford him.
I doubt it. What would be the point in us signing or even looking at players just for the new manager when appointed to say he doesn't want them? Having said that, as our transfers seem to be being decided by the owners in recent months, it might not matter!
Even the Daily Fail reported Kirkland had been training with us. However, with his injury record he was always going to be a risk - hopefully we can pick up a couple of decent keepers once the new manager is appointed.
I think he was suggesting Barmby's replacement was in place in all but contract. In fairness it'd be a good way for McCarthy or someone to be sure that the Allams were going to back them. "I know you can't give me the contract yet, but these are the players I want. Go and get them, and hopefully by then the situation with NB will be sorted and I can sign a contract" - no players = no contract signing by the manager.
Several people have posted that he has signed already, but I don't actually know if that's true or not. The intention was definitely to give him a deal, but I don't know how much Nick's sacking may, or may not, have screwed things up. Nobody ever said Kirkland had signed, he was training with us and he wanted to join us, but we were holding off until we know for certain that we couldn't do a deal for Mannone.
Great when two Leicester supporters come onto the Hull City site to discuss a Sheffield Wednesday signing.
