Thank you for everything Drogba. You are a legend at this club and by far Chelsea's best ever striker.

I have hated Didier Drogba for many years for two reasons:

    1. He has had a tendancy to go down a bit easy sometimes. (But every club has a player like that, I know we do!)

    2. he has been a constant thorn in our side. A massive threat for Chelseas opposition, A big game player and someone who leads by example....

All that said, and my hate aside, its not just Chelsea that will miss him. One of the pivotal figures of the premier league is leaving and players coming into the league have very big shoes to fill if they wish to become that kind of household name and icon that ole horse face has become over the years.

Great player, if he had played for us i would have loved him, but he didnt do i hated him.......as an extremely talented player who worked for the opposition.

i wish the guy all the best

Knew this was coming, I just found out through the Chelsea facebook page.
Farewell Drogba! You will be missed. What a way to go out, gotta be the best final kick of a ball ever for Chelsea, to score a pen to win a CL final.

On the plus side, it means it is almost certain Torres will stay now. As he will be told that he will be the main man next season. I think it is easy to see with signings like Mata and Marin and the possible inclusion of Hazard that a squad is being built around Torres.

Well that's it then. The road has finally come to an end for Didier Drogba at Chelsea FC. And what a way to go...

Eight years at the club and he has been a good servant to us. One of the best strikers we have ever had at the club. Countless amount of goals he has scored for us and assists he has made, many of which I will never forget due to their quality and how important they were. Many a time he has won trophies and matches for us and many a time he has saved us. He has ensured legendary status for himself at our club.

Everything he has won for us, for himself and has achieved during his time at the club:

    Three Premier League Titles: 2004/05, 2005/06, 2009/10
    One Champions League Title: 2011/12
    Four FA Cup Titles: 2006/07, 2008/09, 2009/10, 2011/12
Two League Cup Titles: 2004/05, 2006/07
Two Community Shield Titles: 2005, 2009

Two Ivorian Footballer of the Year Awards: 2006, 2007
Two African Footballer of the Year Awards: 2006, 2009
One Chelsea Players' Player of the Year Award: 2006/07
Two Premier League Golden Boot Awards: 2006/07, 2009/10
Two PFA Team of the Year Awards: 2006/07, 2009/10
One UEFA Team of the Year Award: 2007
One ESM Team of the Year Award: 2007
One FIFPro World XI Award: 2007
One BBC African Footballer of the Year Award: 2009
One West African Footballer of the Year Award: 2010
One Chelsea Player of the Year Award: 2009/10
One Time Top 100 Award: 2010
One UEFA Champions League Final Man of the Match Award: 2011/12

    338 appearances
    157 goals
    71 assists
Fourth highest ever goalscorer for Chelsea

Thanks for everything Didier, good luck with everything in the future and I wish you all the best and as much success as possible. You shall be very missed, but never forgotten.

Didier leaves Chelsea having scored 157 goals in 341 appearances. He is the club's fourth all-time highest scorer, his 34 goals in European competition is a Chelsea record by 10 goals and his nine strikes in nine cup finals has contributed immensely to the most successful period in the club's history.

He won three Premier League titles, four FA Cups, two Carling Cups and now, in the most dramatic and glorious of circumstances, the Champions League. He has been named Chelsea's Player of the Year and Players' Player of the Year and won the Premier League Golden Boot twice.

The 34-year-old said: 'I wanted to put an end to all the speculation and confirm that I am leaving Chelsea. It has been a very difficult decision for me to make and I am very proud of what we have achieved but the time is right for a new challenge for me.

'As a team we have accomplished so much and have won every single trophy possible. Saturday was a very special moment for everyone at the club and for all the fans, and I am very proud to have played my part in bringing many trophies to this club, which has been my home for the last eight years.

'I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone at the club especially Roman and my team-mates, many of whom have become very close friends and will be my friends for life. I would also like to say a very special thank you to the Chelsea fans who have shown me so much love and support over the years.

'I wish the club all the best and continued success for the future - you will always be in my heart.'

The big worry is losing such a big game player but ultimately this feels like the right time for all concerned.

He has finally won the big one and there is little else to achieve with us now. It is another big wage off the books and at 34 was only going to have less game time.

We are gradually going to have to replace the 'old guard' and Anelka and Drogba are the first of what will be a gradual process over the next 2-3 seasons.

Lets just hope Torres takes this chance to be the next great Chelsea centre forward alongside the likes of Ossie and Drogba.

And Didier, it was truely a pleasure watching you play, you are the greatest forward to ever play the lone striker role, an absolute gentleman off the pitch and an inspiration to your team and fans on it. 9 goals in 9 cup finals, amazing. Best of luck for the rest of your career and I just pray we never have to play against you!!

We'll all miss you Drogs, but you've more than earned your place in the Chelsea Hall of Fame! I dont like to make comparisons of all my Chelsea goalscoring heroes , but lets just say you join Ossie, Greavsie, Bobby Tambling, Lamps and King Kerry in a very special club! God bless you for all you've done for us and good luck in the future! Just make sure you come over to say hello once in a while!!

An absolutely sensational player, and his charity work shows a great man as well.

He's been a pleasure to watch, even if like many other clubs, he's torn us many a new arsehole.

One of the greatest the league has seen.

His naming of Torres as the future of Chelsea is the gesture of a truly magnanimous man.

It is to be hoped that Torres appreciates the gesture, shuts the hell up, and finally shows Chelsea fans exactly what he's capable of. <ok>
