We've been linked (probably just his agent agitating for a move)

What does everybody think about him then?

    Here's my twopenneth;

    Pro's

    - Has some pedigree. Came through at Chelsea.
    - Had to work to get where he is, starting in Non League.
    - Has Premiership experience with Everton
    - Moyes can pick a player and brought him to the club
    - Very good goal scoring record, averaging very nearly 1 in 2 for pro clubs (scored 54 in 82 for non-league Wealdstone)
    - At 28 he's in his prime. Physically, 6ft2 with good pace is useful.
    - Big game player. Seem to remember him scoring Leeds' winner against Man U at Old Trafford in the F.A. Cup. Also scored 2 against Spurs that year. If you look at his history he has scored the decisive goal to take Leeds up for example.
    - Sven was prepared to pay 2.5mil for him.

    Cons

    - Chelsea let him go in favour of Carlton Cole
    - Only managed 8 in 32 league starts for Everton. 10 in all competitions.
    - Moyes let him go after 1 season.
    - Leeds let him go on a free. Also might explain Moyes' punt.
    - Had a falling out with Nigel Pearson at end of season, with Pearson citing his ill-discipline.
    (See the following link for details;

Personally I find the fan's comment, 3rd one down...Paul from Leicester, more compelling.)

Overall my instinct says he'd be very useful. The kind of player Gylfi could slide in on goal.
I believe Pearson just wants him gone because of his wages. If the transfer fee was minimal I'd take the risk (Leicester fans quoting 1.5-2m are off their heads, with new rules coming in and yet another year in the Championship they need rid of some big earners).
Whenever I've seen him I've thought him dangerous, a handful, and I believe he still has something to prove at Premiership level. He seems driven.

    To the floor.......

From the look of that post and the fact that I don't know any better, he looks like he'd be in the same vein as Leroy Lita. Patchy past, few sketchy dismissals from previous clubs despite looking quite decent on the park. I'd say he's an option, but more of a 'plan B' than a first thought.

If we lighten the wage bill I don't see a problem - provided we're not stung. The discipline 'problem' seems to be down to Pearson more than Beckford and he has experience at this level. Foxes fans are saying he's 'lazy' but that could be sour grapes. Brendan won't tolerate that as we know.

Maybe worth a go and it'll be healthy for Danny G to have some serious competition up front.

I'd only take him if we could get rid of Lita and get some money back...and Beckford didn't cost more than 500k.
Would still want this Traore character.
I'd consider him a Lita upgrade.

    Not for me.

Disruptive influence, big-time-charlie who would upset all the apple-carts.

Maybe Cardiff would be interested, they have a lot of spare cash swilling around now that Drogba has turned them down...

Beckford would be a big no no for me as he would be a disruptive element in a squad that believes 100% in eachother and frankly i dont think he's PL quality anyhow.

Moyes is one of the best mangers around and if didn't rate him then would he be good enough for us .no better than we've got imo

all this disruptive influence is a load of tosh, what you are saying is that brendan dont know how to control players.... dyer had a bad reputation before he joined us and he has turned out a model player. If we should get beckford then we know he can score goals but what we dont know if he can play our system. brendan and his scouts has to make that decision at the end of the day.....If beckford had a reputation like barton then fair enough as someone like barton dont deserve another chance, beckford has a good cv to his name and deserves a second chance whoever signs him...

see there we go again saying moyes did not rate him...he rated him enough to sign him didn't he. some players just cant settle in another team but that does not mean the the player woke up one morning and was rubbish......he had a lot of competition at everton and when he did play he did ok. he scored for them as well......just because a player is out of favour with everton does not mean he is no good and cant perform for another club....horses for courses...

He's not been great for us this last year but the system we've played hasn't suited him. He really needs balls to run on to and slot home, he's a good finisher. He's not good at holding it up or with his back to goal so doesn't really bring teamates into it much.

I definatley wouldn't call him lazy, he can look disinterested but almost always puts a shift in. He's been next to Nugent who's constantly on the move and it i think it makes him look less hard working by comparison. My main gripe with Beckford is his touch is pretty awful and he can end up losing the ball a lot. I think if it wasn't for FFP we'd probably keep him but he's on hefty wages and Pearson is looking to reduce outgoings considerably after the Sven debacle.

We were forced to let him go on a free. It was either sell him for a couple of million in January or keep him and hope he got the goals to get us up before moving. All of this about him having a bad attitude is rubbish too, granted he's not going to be linking up play on the park too much but off it he's known for being easy to get along with and always treats the fans well.

A finisher and goal poacher is just what we are missing at swansea so i would not dismiss a player who can do that. If only trundle was younger then he would be ideal...

As you'd expect from someone who once thought their dream was over and fixed broken windscreens for the R.A.C while playing non-league

Here's a couple of problems though:

1: "My main gripe with Beckford is his touch is pretty awful and he can end up losing the ball a lot" Wasn't Dobbie shipped out for that?

2: We're in for a loan signing: Guidetti from Man City. Internet is awash with it.

he is a poacher someone like scotland was and trundle and he was very good at it at leeds who like to pass the ball. he scored for everton also even though his appearances were limited. A goal poacher is exactly what we are missing. if england is on his cv then he must have something. he needs to find the right club and if we are interested then someone somewhere See's something that may benefit us.....i would not dismiss a goal machine like beckford because you dont like him....

I for one am not dismissing him. He can score goals for sure. But it looks like we're in for others that may take priority.

One question though: Graham & Beckford have a lot in common. Both good goalscorers at Champ level. But in the Prem, Graham has 14 goals for us this season but Beckford 8 in 34 games for Everton? And you're a fan of the latter but not the former?

    Why?
