Does the torch come any where near you. I have to go to Consett/Castleside or Durham. None are close to me so I won't be bothering about it:shocked:

    Boro/Redcar/Saltburn/Loftus

    But totally missing Guisborough out.

I say i wont bother, but its a once in a lifetime for about 2 minutes to see the thing, so I might venture out to see it.

I know it's coming through Sunderland, but I don't yet know the proposed time and route. The day it comes through Sunderland also coincides with my degree ceremony at the Sage in Gateshead, so I will probably miss it anyway...

What has amazed me about this is that each bearer gets a new Olympic torch! At a cost of almost £500!,

8,000 people get to carry a torch which they can then buy at either £200 in advance or £250 on the day. Lots of these people chosen are then putting them on eBay to make money!

I hope we the tax payer have not paid for 8,000 torches but what gets me is why can they not just use one?

The fuel in the torch just lasts for 10 minutes, so they cant just use 1 torch.

Ha ha ha Albert but for your sake I hope she doesn't see this. If she does I hope there are some gorgeous nurses in the ward you're in!

It is going past Penshaw monument in June, but watch your car as it might get 'torched' !. Anyhow it does not look like a torch to me, the one on the statue of liberty is better.

<laugh>...Very naughty Albert...When we go to Durham on the A690 and pass Dragonsville, I always refer to it as our lasses ancestorial home, which usually earns me a slap..
