I once tried sheeps bollocks in Turkey.
Quite tasty to be fair... Like sweet mutton.

    What's your strangest food event?

Think I'd prefer coleslaw to sheeps bollocks though.

Ostrich sausage ina French market. Tasted like salami with a raw-chicken aftertaste...

Ostrich meat is lush. A place in Rothbury sells Crocodile meat.

Guess it'd have to be Ostrich steak - it was cooked and served like beef steak and was very nice.
Best part was the venue; Cape Point, Table Mountain National Park, Cape Town in a restaurant
where two oceans meet! Loved it and so want to go back but not just for the steak! lol

Well there was this American Pie that looked rather tempting and ...well ... it needed some cream...

Aah - Cape Town - arguably the most beautiful city in the world....love it to bits !
A bit further up in West Africa I had deep fried locust and also monkey. To be honest I prefer a bacon sarnie..

Has anyone ever actually tried jellied eels?? I got close once and almost chucked. How do you even get that stuff near your mouth?

Carne de Rã, in an all you can eat meat restaurant in Brazil.

No-one told me what it was until after I'd eaten it. Upchuck city.

A few of us used to go down to the coast as youngsters and one of them got some jellied eels and insisted that we all tried them, needless to say I've never had them since. I do know people that do like them though, all a matter of taste.

Agree on the bacon sarnie and about Cape Town - the whole place blew me away!
I stayed a month and didn't want to leave. AB - kind of but it's about the whole place.
BTW - the restaurant is at the end of the road on the run up to the lower right promontory:

Do you get those chappies in Newcastle guys? (Being so close to the sea) You know the ones, that come into the pub about an hour before kick off, sporting a white coat and what looks like a cinema usherette's tray.

Instead of Zoom lollies, luke warm Kia-ora and ice cream tubs though, it's full of whelks, cockles, winkles and crab sticks in vinegar. You get a little plastic shovel to ladle down what looks like a lot of assorted snot samples.

    Absolutely revolting stuff.

Used to get guys coming into the pubs on Friday nights with trays of fish food on them but haven't seen any for ages.
