Just watching the Graham Norton Show with Will Smith, Gary Barlow and Sir Tom and Gary Barlow was talking about his new song with Andrew Lloyd Webber for the Jubilee and they showed a clip of it and I noticed that the subtitle said it was produced by a company called Fulwell 73? Now, I find it pretty coincidental if not a little amusing that the name of our famous end and the year of our most famous and glorious moment in football have been joined together to make a new production company based on London? Does anyone know if there are connections between the company and someone from the area?
http://www.fulwell73.co.uk/about New company formed in 2005. Says nowt about Sunderland. There's a place in London called Fulwell, I imagine it's related to that but could be wrong!
Its just very interesting to see Fulwell and 73 together and even if there is a place called Fulwell in London, why pick 73 to go with it? All seems very coincidental for there not to be anything in it?
Fulwell 73 are an independent, London based production company specializing in a broad range of film and TV productions. Set up in 2005 by brothers Gabe and Ben Turner with their cousins and life-long friends Leo Pearlman and Ben Winston, Fulwell has always strived to make top-quality productions and build a reputation as versatile film-makers and producers. Fulwell 73 first came to the public’s attention in September 2007 with the release of their debut feature “In The Hands Of The Gods” (Lionsgate). The film received great critical acclaim, opened on more screens than any other UK made documentary and appeared in cinemas around the world. Since then Fulwell has produced many films and television programmes across different genres. From comedies to film thrillers; from 3D music movies to moving hard hitting documentaries, Fulwell 73’s exciting and dynamic approach has produced some memorable film and television moments.
Fulwell is in the borough of Teddington and is not a recognised postal address even though there is a Fulwell golf club and railway station
I love solving mysteries so looked them up a bit but couldn't find much out. They have been involved in loads of football related things - they did that Smithy World Cup Team Talk sketch with James Corden for instance. Interestingly the person who is their production manager is called Carly SHACKLETON. No idea if she is any relation but again another coincidence. I have emailed them to ask if there is a link. Will keep you posted!
http://answerpot.com/showthread.php?552284-Fulwell 73 There are other mentions in Google but I'm sure it won't be the concrete 100% certified confirmation some will be after, however Fulwell on its own could well be taken in any context but link it with 73 then I reckon its more than coincidence, just my opinion like.
Go Sherlock. Lol This is my point. The link between Fulwell and 73 is just to obvious not to have some link to the football story? If it is purely coincidental then its very spooky indeed.
As I said earlier I emailed them (asked about possible links and whether they have considered doing a feature on the club) and I got the following reply today from Leo Pearlman, which answers all our questions and is quite cool really!! Hi, We are indeed Sunderland fans, in fact three of the four founding directors of the company were born and bred in the North East and are family. After much deliberation the name "Fulwell 73" was set upon for our production company back in 2007. Our reasoning being that the Fulwell end is where we stood as kids and 73, well that needs no explanation. The name acts as a constant reminder of where we've come from and that anything is possible. All of us still try to go home and away as much as possible, I'd say we still make it to around 25 games a season, not bad for living in London! Unfortunately I don't share your optimism for the next few seasons. I think the gap between us and the top six to eight clubs is too great and with nothing to play for but the slim chance of a decent cup run, I'm not sure what good times we can look forward too, other than hopefully beating the mags home and away. I guess its a measure of just how far we've come as a club that I don't in any way expect a relegation battle and am a little bored by the prospect of mid table security! That being said, we offered our services to the club a few years ago and would still love to do something with them. MON is certainly the best thing to happen to the club for a while and I imagine a fly on the wall with him would make for great viewing. Its just a shame that the mighty Quinn isn't also still with us. It would take a lot to do something more entertaining than "Premier Passions". That was such a special time to be a Sunderland fan, the best in my lifetime for sure. Anyway, thanks for getting in touch and hope I answered your questions. If you're interested in what we're working on at the moment, you can check us out on our website www.fulwell73.com. Also our new feature film is out on DVD tomorrow, "Piggy". If you like scary thrillers check it out. Best, Leo
I got a further email from Leo asking if anyone on the forum had a good contact at Sunderland AFC. They are keen to try again to do a feature on the club, area and supporters. Anyone able to help? Wouldn't it be brilliant to be involved in something like this? Their new film looks a bit scary mind!! Edit: if anyone has a contact obviously don't put it on here! PM me and I will send you Leo's email address to pass on to your contact.
Brilliant stuff mate and as suspected, there just had to be a link of some sort. Nowt gets passed the Cest you know? Lol
